Job Purpose

The front-end developer of User Experience (UX) will have primary responsibilities in achieving intuitive user interface for web product that ART CdM developed and deployed. The front-end engineer is responsible in creating user-friendly and responsive user interface to create a positive user experience.

This position will work closely with external clients and other SMRT internal teams.

Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities for this position are listed as below. Note that this list is not comprehensive and related duties and responsibilities may be assigned from time to time.

• Translate the user interface wireframe and design into a functional web app user interface codes using HTML, Javascript, CSS.

• Ensure web app responsiveness that is able to accommodate both mobile and desktop environments.

• Able to balance between functional and aesthetic web design by taking into consideration timeline and requirement feasibility.

• Able to actively propose a design system with the team to enhance the front-end development workflows and consistency.

• Able to choose right data visualizations for the users to understand the data involved easily.

• Able to perform basic data transformation / manipulation in Javascript to ensure compatibility among different web libraries and APIs.

• Able to develop basic web APIs to perform requests to retrieve or transmit data.

• Solve and debug any bugs and malfunctions related to front-end modules and user interface functionalities.

• Work closely with backend engineers from product conception to deployment, as well as post-release optimizations and enhancements in order to ensure interfaces between back-end modules and front-end modules function properly.

• Web Development technology stacks to be used are:

o Web Language: Javascript, HTML, CSS, PHP
o Libraries: Vue.js, Bootstrap, Quasar, node.js, Mapbox
o Database: SQL and MongoDB (noSQL)
o Backend / Analytics: Python, Matlab

Qualifications & Work Experience

• Bachelor Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
• At least 2 years of experience as Software Engineer, especially in Front-end Web Development
• Experienced in front-end web development language (HTML, CSS and JS) and front-end web frameworks.
• Experienced in one of high-level programming language for data analytics, MATLAB or Python is a plus
• Experienced in database query language on both SQL and noSQL is a plus

Skills

Technical skills include:

• Programming, coding and software development skills
• Proficient experience in web development language : HTML, CSS and Javascript
• Good aesthetic sense in user interface design
• Prior knowledge with front-end frameworks such as Angular / React / Vue and Bootstrap will be highly advantageous
• Prior exposure to backend language such as PHP, SQL, or Node.js is a plus
• Prior experience with web mapping libraries like Mapbox or Google Map is a plus
• Prior exposure to high level programming language for basic analytics such as MATLAB or Python is a plus
• Basic statistical and mathematical analytics knowledge is a plus

Soft skills include:

• Professional working attitude, problem-solving, critical thinking and communication skills
• Able to think independently and proactively propose solutions
• Strong inclination and eager for continual learning and development
