About you If You had a passion in creating mathematical models for game design, balancing games to reach player experience and validating the game’s behaviour with developers. You are independent, resourceful, and committed to building everything from scratch. You You enjoy working in a fun and cool start-up environment with happy hours at work and occasional bar hopping sessions. Being a team player, you are responsible and can work well either independently or with others in a fast-paced environment.

In addition, you have:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economy, Engineering, Computer Science, Game Design or other related fields
• 2+ years’ experience in game development, math model design or other related fields.
• Demonstrated understanding in combinatorics, statistics and probability theories.
• Demonstrated creativity in providing new ideas and problem solving
• Demonstrated understanding in user psychology for games
• Have great passion for gaming of various genres and understanding for game development
• Good proficiency in MS Excel and VBA.
• Knowledge in programming, preferably C/C++ or any other languages that can be used for mathematical model simulations.
• Knowledge in Unity is preferred for prototyping.
• Interest in games both from a designer and player perspective.
• Ability to work in a creative and collaborative environment
• Ability to multitask, work on multiple games concurrently and deal with changing requirements.
• Self-driven, initiative, and positive attitude
• Proficiency in English and bilingual in mandarin preferred as you are required to work with the Chinese counterpart.
• Any additional language will be considered an asset

Your Day in The Life

• Create mathematical models for games
• Discuss and participate in brainstorming sessions for game ideas and game features
• Model and tune mathematical models using Excel
• Create quick prototypes to test game flow and game balancing
• Test and verify accuracy of mathematical models via simulations
• Analyse user feedback and game statistics and adjust the mathematical model and game design accordingly
• Assist in game development process, engaging the team and resolving issues
• Help Game Producer tune the game concepts
• Work closely and collaborate with Game Designers, Software Developers, Art Directors, and Producers to produce quality games
• Validate, simulate (with the help of simulation developers) and sign off mathematical models to ensure they work as intended
• Troubleshoot with engineers on technical implementation of mathematical models.
• Keep record of games and their simulations
• Provide answers and explanations to relevant math questions for game designers, engineers, compliance requirements and other departments as necessary
