The Role Responsibilities
Summary
Leads and Manages the Supply Chain Management (" SCM") Technology sourcing team. The role\'s requirements are:

  • Partner with the Technology, Transformation and Operations ("TTO") organisation to deliver all of their external sourcing requirements.
  • Develop supply chain strategies for the $1.6Bn of annual supplier spend focused on cost reduction, supplier performance and supplier risk management for the bank.
  • Lead the execution of Strategic Sourcing initiatives which deliver solutions that meet the needs of our bank wide stakeholders in a cost effective and optimised manner.
  • Analyse relevant spend data and industry dynamics to deliver insights into opportunities for optimisation and cost reduction through Supply, Demand, Governance or spend compliance actions.
  • Set the business sourcing strategies aligned to business needs and supply market forecasts.
  • Support Regions in their execution of regional/country initiatives in alignment with global strategies.
  • Contribute to the strategy and overall achievement of functional objectives as a member of the Global Supply Chain Management leadership team.
  • Engage and provide stakeholder management support to key senior business and function representatives (particularly CIOs and COOs).
  • Manage supplier risk to establish a stable and secure supply chain that allows the bank to provide uninterrupted services to its stakeholders with minimal environmental impact.
  • Lead and develop the capabilities of the SCM Technology sourcing team .
  • Support SC Ventures, the bank\'s innovation arm, to enable them to onboard suppliers in a rapid and risk appropriate manner, enabling them to drive innovation for the bank.
Responsibilities
Strategy
  • Understand the business strategy to enable SCM business alignment so relevant sourcing strategies are developed by all Global Category Managers
  • Create sourcing strategies that focus on supplier cost reduction and risk mitigation, through needs assessments, consolidation and expense / demand management.
  • Explore and leverage strategic supplier partnership opportunities.
  • Continuously improve the target operating models for Technology Sourcing resources across the Bank and SC Ventures, ensuring the best return of investment (including Global, Regional, Local and Hub FTEs).
Stakeholder Management
  • Partner with key executives from the Technology, Transformation and Operations organisation to pro-actively understand their requirements and develop appropriate sourcing strategies and techniques to deliver those requirements in a cost effective manner.
  • Ensure the intrinsic business value of the SCM sourcing framework is communicated and understood by the business.
  • Motivate cross functional team members to create an optimized, efficient supplier portfolio that meets the Bank\'s requirements both now and in the future.
  • Engage positively with 2nd line risk framework owners to mitigate Third Party Risks at the earliest opportunity in the lifecycle of an arrangement.
Project Management
  • Execute global strategic sourcing events in a structured manner.
  • Manage supplier on-boarding risks
Business (commercials)
  • Drive a culture of cost discipline across TTO\'s third party spend base.
  • In conjunction with Stakeholders and Regional Global Sourcing teams, define and develop sourcing strategies for all products or services that outline both the market and internal characteristics of the category.
  • Define opportunities covering the Supply, Demand and Governance aspects of the supply chain and detail the specific actions that will optimise the consumption of the categories products or services.
  • Create cost efficiencies and support expense line management by directly mapping savings to the General Ledger.
  • Support Contract Owners in resolving contractual disputes.
  • Understand and manage sensitivities where suppliers are also clients.
Processes
  • Lead the GCMs to produce best practises for each category and communicate these globally. Measure and report compliance against all elements of category management.
  • Ensure execution responsibilities for all sourcing events are clearly understood between global, regional and sourcing hub teams.
  • Drive process improvement for sourcing related activity.
People and Talent
  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
  • Ensure the provision of on-going training and development of people, and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.
  • Employ, engage and retain high quality people.
  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Comprehensive and demonstrable knowledge and direct experience of procurement and associated processes in large complex multi-national organisations preferably in Finance
  • Strategic context with ability to work collaboratively within the Team and the Bank in formulating strategies involving sourcing and suppliers to deliver business value
  • Strategic thinking & decision making at functional, project, relationship and vendor level
  • Strong team leadership & development skills to lead a motivated team - with an ability to operate in complex multi-organisation, multi-country and multi-cultural environments
  • Strong presentation, communication and influencing skills, at all levels of the organisation and into supplier organisations
  • Ability to research, document, develop and manage Strategic relationships using both objective and subjective metrics
  • A clear commitment to SCB values and the ability to incorporate those into all aspects of corporate life
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Technology categories and associated supply markets
  • Advanced commercial acumen
  • Self motivated and confident with the enthusiasm and determination to succeed
Qualification
  • Academic or Professional Education/Qualifications: Degree qualification
  • Licences and Certifications/accreditations
  • Professional Memberships: CIPS or similar desirable
  • Bank training; Code of Conduct, AB&C, Advanced Banking Product / Services and other mandatory learning
  • Languages; English (Mandatory)
