As our Graduate you will develop the crucial underwriting foundation, with the prospect to move into a professional underwriting role in our organisation. This programme offers you a kick start to your career, developing technical skills relevant to the Reinsurance industry.
We're looking for curious, motivated graduates with strong people skills who want to grow, learn, and make a difference. If you hold a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD and have up to 3 years of professional experience, apply to our 18-month Graduate Programme starting 1 September 2026.
You'll gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of reinsurance, make a rotation in a different team, and receive tailored training to build your expertise. This is your chance to shape your future and help protect societies from the world's most complex risks. In the second half of the programme, we will work with you to jointly develop your individual perspectives for your career at Swiss Re.
About the Role

As a Graduate and future underwriting professional, you'll be immersed in real work from day one collaborating with diverse teams across the underwriting value chain. We believe in learning by doing, so you'll gain hands-on experience alongside talented, supportive colleagues. A dedicated mentor will guide you through challenges and help you grow with confidence.
You'll play a key role in evaluating insurance applications, assessing risks, and helping drive our company's profitability.
Your daily activities include:

• Review insurance applications and accompanying documents to determine eligibility and assess risk factors
• Analyse underwriting data, including loss history, financial statements, and market trends, to prepare and propose informed decisions on policy acceptance or rejection
• Calculate appropriate premiums based on risk assessment and company guidelines
• Collaborate with brokers, clients, and other internal stakeholders to gather additional information and clarify policy details
• Support senior underwriters in complex underwriting tasks
• Active involvement in a project to gain an end-end understanding of the underwriting value chain incl. portfolio steering

By working directly in the business, you will broaden and deepen your skills and expertise in at least following areas: Underwriting (Property, Casualty, Specialty, Facultative)?, Claims handling?, Client management, Portfolio steering? and Data analytics?.
About the Team
P&C Reinsurance is the biggest Business Unit of Swiss Re and split in 4 lines of business: Property, Casualty, Specialty and Facultative. During the Graduates Programme you will be part of the CUO Property Team that focuses on Property Treaty underwriting. You will join a global and diverse team of more than 50 colleagues based in offices all across the globe where 'team spirit' is not just a tagline, but every day's practice.
About You
We are looking for people who want to make a difference!

• Successfully completed a university degree (Bachelor, Master, or PhD degree). A degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Economics would be more relevant to the role, but not a must.
• Strong interest in/motivation to work in Property, Casualty or Specialty Reinsurance
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and high attention to detail
• Strong in communication and high confidence to work with clients, brokers, and senior colleagues
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a positive and collaborative attitude
• Innovative, showing a high degree of own initiative, takes accountability and is a fast learner
• Excellent oral and written English skills; additional language skills advantageous
• Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
