What the role is:
The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.
The role as a GIS Data Content Improvement, who is responsible for enhancing the quality, accuracy, and usability of geospatial datasets.
What you will be working on:
Geospatial Development and Implementation - Develop and configure geospatial apps, to deliver user-friendly interfaces and robust back-end systems.
GeoData Quality Assurance and Validation - Conduct thorough quality checks on basemap accuracy and verify points of interest data to ensure all accessibility information is current and reliable, identifying and correcting errors in mapping data to maintain the highest standards of accuracy for users who depend on this critical information.
Map Content Management and Updates - Regularly update and maintain map content including accessibility features such as ramps, accessible entrances, lift locations, and barrier-free pathways, ensuring all information reflects current conditions and newly available accessible infrastructure across mapped areas.
Field Data Collection and Ground Verification - Conduct on-site data collection activities to gather real-world accessibility information, physically surveying locations to verify existing data accuracy, identify new accessible features, and document barriers or changes that affect wheelchair accessibility in various environments.
