DESIGNATION : Grounds Maintenance Officer

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Grounds Maintenance Officer reports directly to the Support Staff Supervisor. Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to: -

  • Directing traffic during school peak hours
  • Leading by example
  • Developing respectful relationships with all staff, students, families and colleagues within the EtonHouse community
  • Working in collaboration with colleagues and students to promote responsibility in caring for our school environment
  • Liaising with colleagues regarding work that is required to be carried to ensure that the school is well maintained, well presented and safe for the school community
  • Working in collaboration with the Support Staff Supervisor to ensure that the school environment remains tidy, well cared for and safe
  • Suggesting and identifying improvements to the school environment
  • Ensuring safety is a priority when working within the school environment
  • Engaging in ongoing professional learning required to work within a school setting and fulfil the job requirements such as safe guarding and first aid training
  • Supporting daily checks of the school grounds to ensure the highest level of safety necessary within a school setting
  • Supervising and monitoring outsourced contractors on project and rectification works on site
  • The upkeep and handling of the general care of the school ie school building, outdoor compound and surroundings
  • Assisting with clearing of excessive plant litter and leaves during inclement weather
  • Daily clearing of the school compound of litter and leaves
  • Handling excessive clearing of litter and leaves during increment weather
  • Performing general cleaning of the classrooms and school compound
  • Assisting with routine maintenance and minor repair work as well as electrical, plumbing, plastering and painting work
  • Routinely maintaining furniture, play equipment, building and surrounds, and swimming pool as required
  • Inspecting school compound of potential mosquito breeding
  • Being fully aware of and follow mosquito prevention practices
  • Preventing water from accumulating near the building by looking for any signs of gutter or downspout problems. To ensure gutter and drains and cleared if found blocked
  • Checking to ensure there is no potential mosquito breeding by ensuring that gutters and drains are cleared if they are found to be blocked
  • Checking that all external and internal light fixtures are in working condition
  • Handling general duties such as set up of rooms, moving of furniture from classroom to classroom or EtonHouse branches
  • Preparing rooms for school events, graduation ceremony, festive functions when required;
  • Receiving and checking goods and supplies for maintenance and storing them in correct storage areas
  • Assisting other staff with tasks as and when requested
  • Carrying out any other duties as may be assigned by Management and/or Principal.


QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant working experience
  • Working experience in school setting is desirable
  • Independent, resourceful and able to perform under pressure with minimum supervision
  • Able to multi-task and work independently
