Overview of the Job GroupM is currently looking for an Accountant to join us. In this role, you will liaise with GroupM /Agency and FinancePlus in Malaysia to oversee day-to-day activities including operation, reporting and compliance functions to ensure the company\xe2\x80\x99s finance is organized, efficient and produces accurate financial and management accounts. In addition, you will continuously assist to improve the agencies/Company\xe2\x80\x99s reporting processes and procedures in accordance with group policies while sticking to business edicts and regulatory /ICFR guidelines. In This role, your goals will be:
In 3 months:
  • Understanding the advertising media market environment, GroupM\xe2\x80\x99s value proposition and familiarity with the Company culture
  • Familiarize with the group policies, Reporting requirements & systems, IFRS and ICFR control guidelines.
  • Establish good rapport with the agencies /commercial being handled and exercise partnering with stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of the month-end closing process, requirements, timelines and reports submission
In 6 months:
  • Able to make comments on the agency\xe2\x80\x99s financial performance and involve in the daily reporting/operation of the business and hands-on in the coaching functions (Financeplus in Malaysia).
  • Provide appropriate insights analysis and strongly support fact-based decision-making process based on the business environment and specialist financial knowledge
  • Conduct review and support monthly, quarterly, and yearly management reporting, financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and business reviews as well as ensure timely, quality, and accurate reports submission in accordance with regional and global guidelines, and business trends in conjunction with group direction/guidelines and policies
  • Key custodian of internal controls and assurance that processes, and transactions comply with IFRS, group policies and ICFR guidelines.
  • Work with FinancePlus to manage and monitor the company\xe2\x80\x99s performance and KPIs
  • Liaison with external & internal auditors, tax and corporate agents for audit, statutory, taxes and corporate filing matters
In 12 months:
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting, operations standards/processes in accordance with the ICFR guidelines, and group policies to achieve growth, improvement, and recommendations for operational and reporting efficiency.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate analysis of data used for performance measurement is complete, timely, consistent, valid and relevant to address stakeholders\xe2\x80\x99 needs.
  • Partnering with IT for system interfaces and implementation for business and aligning with reporting requirements
  • Complete ad hoc requests and perform other duties as needed in a timely manner which aligns with business initiatives.

Minimum qualifications:
  • A Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in accounting/commerce, preferably with a CPA/CA or equivalent professional qualification with minimum > 3 years of experience in a financial reporting role
  • Demonstrate the ability to acquire new knowledge and skills to adapt to change.
  • Detail oriented with a good appreciation for risk and control procedures and environments.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with the agency, FinancePlus and Regional with strong self-starter characteristics.
  • Conscientiousness, attention to detail, attentiveness to accuracy and maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, with the ability to adapt to the challenging needs of the organization and the demands of both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, maturity and ability to effectively multi-tasking and prioritize within a fast-paced demanding environment.
  • Work together with fellow team members toward a common goal as a team.
