Job Description


UWCSEA Dover campus has a vacancy from August 2024 for a Gymnastics Administrator and Coach experienced in coaching Recreation and Junior competitive gymnastics.Reporting to the Head of Gymnastics, the successful coach will help to develop and drive the Gymnastics Program at UWCSEA Dover across Recreational and Competitive Levels.Main ResponsibilitiesCoaching:

  • Assist in planning a gymnastics curriculum for different levels and ensure that coaching techniques are in accordance with best practices
  • Prepare, plan and deliver technically sound session plans (for Recreation and Junior Competitive Squads )
  • Assist the Head of Gymnastics to monitor attendance/progress and set individualized plans (training and competition) including periodic physical and skill testing for all gymnasts
  • Assist in managing & achieving targets based on annual plans
  • Assist PE teachers with delivering PE lessons during gymnastics units throughout the school year
  • Look at every setback during coaching as an opportunity to learn and improve
  • To work with team members to achieve a common goal and improving as a team
Operational (providing daily oversight so as to ensure):
  • Optimal usage of the gymnasium and equipment
  • Safe handling of equipment, usage guidelines are adhered to and advising equipment/training aids
Administrative:
  • Maintain up-to-date records of student/parent details and program information on the school website and notice board
  • Collaborate and work cross-functionally with various departments within the school and coordinate with external providers for venue and catering arrangement
  • Assist with the sign-up process, in line with the Phoenix Gymnastics Program
  • Communicate with parents regarding progress, achievements and/or concerns of gymnasts
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, events, competitions, reviews and meets as scheduled.
  • Coordinate pre-season assessments, registrations, trials, apparatus rotations, and camps.
  • Perform other ad-hoc administrative duties as and when necessary
Hosting Meets and Invitationals:
  • Work with the Head of Gymnastics and facilities team in equipment set up in accordance to competition guidelines
  • Coordinate and ensure meets can be run smoothly with Head of Gymnastics
  • Assist in liaising with parent volunteers and High School volunteers and provide direction and guidance to their supporting role
Person Specifications
  • Qualified Gymnastics coach with excellent experience in coaching children (K-12)
  • Holding qualifications (FIG level 1 or equivalent )
  • At least 5 years of experience
  • An all-round knowledge of Gymnastics and development requirements pertaining to different age groups.
  • Familiarity with Australian Levels Programme (ALP)/Singapore Levels Programme (SGLP) routines is a bonus.
  • Adopt an appropriate approach to age-group training focusing on technical competence, team-building and long-term success
  • Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills and is able to relate to students, parents and teachers with quality service.
  • Familiar with Google Suite or equivalent software
  • Able to work cohesively in a team-based environment as well as independently with a positive working attitude and a willingness to be involved in all aspects of school life.
  • Able to work during weekends and evenings.
