What the role is:The National Research Foundation (NRF) is a department within the Prime Minister\'s Office, and we set the national direction for research, innovation and enterprise (RIE) by developing policies, plans and strategies; funding strategic initiatives that strengthen our scientific and technological capabilities, grow our RIE talent base, and achieve economic and national impact; and fostering RIE collaboration in Singapore and internationally. Strong, sustained support for Academic Research is a cornerstone for RIE. Sustained investments in academic research have enabled Singapore to build up a foundation of research capabilities across many critical disciplinary areas.What you will be working on:Responsibilities A. Central Innovation Cluster (CIC) You will be responsible for driving partnerships between the research ecosystem and industry, and to catalyse technology commercialisation, focusing on industry collaboration projects and translation platforms in the Urban Solutions & Sustainability (USS) domain. You will be working with USS domain stakeholders to map and carry out gap analyses of the USS I&E ecosystem and develop strategies in technology areas where Singapore has researcg strengths and critical mass in expertise, and could benefit from productization and/or testbedding platforms to accelerate the commercialisation of our research outcomes. You will also manage awarded tech commercialisation projects and budgets, including variations to budget/ project duration/ project-lead, collation of reports, and review of completed projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to strengthen the linkages between researchers and industry, accelerate the translation of technology into industry and enable our pool of innovative enterprises to develop globally competitive products and services, thereby realising Singapore\'s vision as an innovation economy. B. Urban Solutions & Sustainability (USS) To develop and strengthen, plans and policy for the Urban Solutions & Sustainability (USS) domain. The role of USS is to develop and strengthen Singapore\'s RD&D capabilities in the energy, water, environment and urban solution sectors to support the growth and development of industries, and to leverage these capabilities to foster innovation for meeting National Challenges. As Head, USS, you will: \xe2\x80\xa2 Develop RIE strategies to build a resilient, sustainable, vibrant and liveable \xe2\x80\x9cCity of Tomorrow\xe2\x80\x9d; \xe2\x80\xa2 Develop RIE initiatives in USS areas of interest including climate science, climate mitigation and adaptation, low carbon technologies, circular economy, food and water resilience, and built environment solutions such as advanced construction and city in nature; \xe2\x80\xa2 Develop RIE initiatives that would support the commercialization and deployment of urban solutions in USS areas of interest, in partnership with relevant partners including the USS I&E Office hosted in A*STAR and Built Environment Technology Alliance hosted by BCA \xe2\x80\xa2 Partner and coordinate between government agencies, Institutes of Higher Learning, Research Institutes, companies and other relevant stakeholders to identify complex systems-level challenges and opportunities that can be addressed through RIE, and to co-develop and implement corresponding solutions; \xe2\x80\xa2 Collect and analyse data from international and local USS RIE ecosystem to make recommendations on new RIE plans and policies; \xe2\x80\xa2 Manage strategically important RIE-funded programmes and ensure programmes achieve their intended outcomes. It was set up to perform the following: a) To provide secretariat support to the Research, Innovation and Enterprise Council (RIEC), chaired by the Prime Minister; b) To coordinate the research of different agencies within the larger national framework in order to provide a coherent strategic overview and direction; c) To develop policies and plans to implement the five strategic thrusts for the national R&D agenda; and d) To implement national research, innovation and enterprise strategies approved by the RIEC, and to allocate funding to programmes that meet NRF\'s strategic objectives.
