Job Description


Role Responsibilities

  • TTO is a $4bn cost base organisation that provides technology solutions and operations excellence for the bank. TTO is a fast-paced environment undergoing significant transformation.
  • This role is responsible for the performance management of the Global Operations Functions, covering $1.2b cost base and a wide breadth of topics and stakeholders in a dynamic and fast pace working environment. It is an integral role in driving effective cost and headcount management for the COO function of the bank in supporting the overall TTO Productivity agenda.
  • The successful candidate will be a trusted partner to the TTO CFO as a senior member of the Global TTO Finance Leadership team as well as the various COOs managing CCIB, CPBB and Financial Crime Operations Unit.
Performance Management:
This role provides financial oversight, control and strategic guidance in the Business Tech domain, with the following key responsibilities:
  • End to end ownership of the P&L of the Operations cost base, driving performance management activities and ensuring that each of the units reach their financial targets.
  • Provide effective Finance business partnership with independent challenge to deliver targeted management outcomes.
  • Develop and embed quality MI and analytics to deliver insights and visibility on cost performance and productivity attainment.
  • Lead cost and headcount performance reviews, ensuring the provision of valuable insights into the drivers of Operations performance. Provide risks and opportunities and drive actions to ensure committed financial outcome.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, influencing the business to optimize across the organization and challenge bottom-up plans to align with the overall TTO ambition.
  • Provide advisory support on the development of strategic plans and sustainable saves initiatives including validation of benefits case and impact to P&L. This includes robust cost and headcount tracking to ensure the Operations team deliver on its commitments.
  • Provide thought leadership on market trends and deliver robust competitor benchmarking & peer analysis to understand our performance against market and influence Ops strategies to optimize our competitive position.
  • Deliver end-to-end client-journey / process view of the Operations cost base to provide further insights on productivity and efficiency opportunities.
  • Ensure investments are properly managed and accounted for in line with the Operations transformation agenda, including inputs into business cases with clearly defined benefits, articulated in sufficient detail to enable effective benefits tracking and realization.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with Business Finance and Group Finance cost teams to enhance consistency of approach and knowledge sharing.
Functional Leadership:
  • Manage the month-end and BAU requirements, including ownership and control over all cost processes, including cost recharges, accounting and control.
  • Owner and gatekeeper of Operations / FCSO recharge framework, moving to activities base and unit costing model to incentivize behaviours and management actions.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate policies and procedures which ensure that the cost budgets are rigorously adhered to, that resources under the direct control and influence of Operations are spent carefully.
  • Lead finance activities relating to business realignment and restructures changes in Business Tech domains including change management and restatement of financial and management reporting, corporate plans, scorecards, reporting structures, and financial systems as well as tracking and reporting of cost synergy achievements.
  • Champion TTO Finance Change agenda by spearheading key initiatives to drive a "Best-in-Class" finance function with a specific focus on reports simplification, centralization and standardization and including the migration of activities to offshore support team.
People and Talent
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to a team of 3 onshore and 17 offshore, building out team\'s capability and fostering a business partnership mindset.
  • Ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles and that effective supervision is in place and appropriate ongoing training and development is available.
  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.
Risk Management
  • Responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks to the Group.
  • Interpret the Group\'s financial information, identify key issues based on this information and put in place appropriate controls and measures.
  • Ensure a full understanding of the risk and control environment in area of responsibility including listing requirements and disclosure obligations.
Governance
  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
  • Responsible for delivering \'effective governance\'; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • 18+ years of Finance experience with specialization in FP&A and cost management in Banking or Technology organizations.
  • Strong familiarity with the bank\'s financial systems and control frameworks
  • Qualified Accountant i.e. CPA, CMA, ACCA.
  • Strategic thinking with commercial acumen and independent thought, a sense of materiality and decision-making capability.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with gravitas and executive presence
  • Strong awareness of the external and internal business environment and competitor landscape.
  • High integrity, with a strong sense of independence and accountability
  • Ability to independently, in a fast pace environment, under tight deadlines with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Innovative and resourceful - ability to adopt new methodologies and navigate the network to resolve business issues, manage risks and complexities.
  • Inquisitive, self-starter with a \'can-do\' and continuous improvement mindset

  • Familiarity of SCB Finance systems and processes
  • Proficient in MS Tools (Excel, PowerPoint).
Role Specific Technical Competencies
  • FP&A and cost management in Banking or Technology organization.
  • Proven track record in leading and delivering cost efficiencies and productivity, ideally in Operations space.
  • Extensive people management experience, managing teams onshore and offshore in highly matrix environments.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management capabilities, with the ability to build trust and creditability with senior stakeholders, providing advice and challenge at a strategic level.
  • Strong analytical skills, using advanced quantitative techniques and modelling tools, with ability to conceptualize and develop proof of concept frameworks, scenario analysis and business cases.
  • Knowledge of cost recharge frameworks and familiarity with unit pricing models
