Job Description


Role Responsibilities

  • The role holder is responsible for leading the Market Risk Analytics quant team within Traded Risk Management (TRM-MRA).
  • TRM-MRA is a global team of quantitative analysts responsible for defining and maintaining portfolio market risk methodologies and supporting the implementation of a robust risk measurement framework for the purpose of effective risk management and regulatory capital calculation. The team is present in London, Singapore and Hong Kong.
  • Key responsibilities are market risk model ownership, development of market risk models and methodology used for both regulatory capital computation and internal risk management, interaction with regulators and internal stakeholders, including model validators, audit, Front Office Quants, and market risk manager
Risk Management
  • Lead and oversee the development, validation, and improvement of portfolio market risk models, frameworks, and systems for the purpose of accurate and timely assessment of market risk.
  • Ensure that portfolio market risk models are regulatory compliant and evolving in line with market best practice.
  • Develop and maintain a robust model performance monitoring framework demonstrating that the models are, and continue to be, performing as expected.
  • Provide technical and methodological support to risk managers, the business and capital/capital allocation analysts.
Strategy
  • Promote higher standards for analysis, measurement and documentation, with the goal of becoming an industry leading market risk measurement function.
  • Provide knowledge transfer to relevant parts of the organisation supporting development required to comply with the Fundamental Review of the Trading Book.
Regulatory Compliance
  • Constructively engage with local, supranational and central regulators, positioning the firm as a reliable partner and by doing so gain strategic insight into the implications of regulatory change.
  • Actively advocate responsible supervision principles and practical implementation standards for Trading Book capital regime reform supporting central, supranational and local regulators\' response to the financial crisis.
  • Understand and comply with all relevant regulations and procedures including internal and external rules applicable to the conduct of business.
Business
  • Support the business through the development and maintenance of business decision models for market and traded credit risk.
  • Ensure that accurate market risk measurement techniques are maintained and developed in a timely manner, reflecting material risks across the portfolio.
  • Ensure that market risk measures are fit for purpose, are correctly implemented and meet regulatory standards.
Processes
  • Ensure that market risk measures are developed, assessed, approved and maintained according to the applicable standards.
  • Ensure that regular processes are noted and consistently followed.
People and Talent
  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from the teams and work in collaboration with all relevant partners.
  • Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development tailored to the function and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles, and have a succession plan in place.
  • Employ, engage and retain high quality people.
  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.
  • Appropriately allocate quantitative resources with market and traded credit risk skills to priority/highest value projects while increasing productivity.
Risk Management
  • Ensure function overall has a full understanding of the risk and control environment in the area of responsibility
  • Act quickly and decisively when any risk and control weakness become apparent and ensure they are addressed within an appropriate timeframe and escalated through the relevant committees
Governance
  • Provide oversight across the Market Risk Analytics team, ensuring compliance with the highest standards of regulatory and business conduct and compliance practices as defined by internal and external requirements.
  • Embed the Group\'s values and code of conduct in Market Risk Analytics to ensure that adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations among employees form part of the culture.

Our Ideal Candidate
The holder of the position must:
  • 12+ years of experience in a model development role in a Risk or Front Office function. .
  • Strong analytical skills and in-depth knowledge of VaR, FRTB and other Market Risk models
  • Experience in Market Risk models
  • Experience in developing the risk or pricing models in a Risk or Front Office function
  • Knowledge and understanding of Risk management practice
  • Experience in Interacting with regulators and senior stakeholder
  • Experience in managing large team in different locations
  • Experience in delivering large projects with stakeholders in different functions
  • Be able to manage the workload and priorities of the team and guide team member in their day to day tasks
  • Education background- MSc in Finance, Mathematics, Physics or Engineering or relevant equivalent experience and bachelor\'s degree
  • Sound judgement in assessing the strength and weaknesses of modelling approaches.
