Our client is an international commodity MNC. This role leads the Finance Operations Services team in managing, establishing, and driving efficient, stable, and effective delivery of settlements to cash receipts and payments processes for its global trading and marketing business . This would include both commodity and non-commodity trade flow and working with stakeholders across the business to oversee and ensure fit for purpose processes and systems that ensures that finance invoicing, payments and receipts processes are in a timely, robust, and compliant manner with UK Corporate Reform (UKCR) requirements.

This role will be vital in strategically understanding the trade flow within the Commodity Trading/Marketing’s complex trading environment and evolving the processes to be fit for purpose. Overseeing and manage the framework for optimizing the process, delivering business requirements, and looking into work stream to implement procedures, standard, policies, and process variation to delivery excellent stakeholder’s experiences.

This role will also lead and involved in the setup requirement and transition of settlement and invoicing activities within Finance.

This role would be the key owner in managing and establishing relationship with Group Finance and accountable for Global Shared services. This role will lead innovation and work closely with the Information Management department to innovate and employ technology to automate activities. It also takes the lead on developing a continuous improvement culture within Finance, putting in place ways to measure our performance and leading collaborative efforts to improve it by removal of barriers for change for continuous improvements and drive consistency. Key tasks:
  • Drive efficient, effective, UKCR compliant Finance operations
The role will plan, lead, implement, manage the team that manages Commodity Trading/Marketing daily operational finance activities are in line with the firm’s beyond finance program. This may include creating invoicing, invoice management, counterparty collection management, payments to and from all counterparties (including across all commodities and non-commodity trade flow) and making sure that transactions are appropriately recorded within the ERP system
  • Stakeholder ownership and management
The role will lead stakeholder relationship with the business, mainly the front office, driving business improvement and sales operations team to setup, stabilize and troubleshoot operational challenges. This role will also own the relationship with Global Shared Services and monitor and supervise the performance is operating as intended.
  • Strategic direction and new business activities setup
The role would need to have a good understanding of trade flow and strategically evolve the financial services activities provided to ensure that remain fit for purpose and meets the business requirements. This would include leading the setup of finance services activities for new business activities with Marketing, including taking into consideration specific business requirement for geographic requirements, payment turnaround time and documentation flow that is required. This may also involve leading the setup and stabilizing the settlements activities framework within Marketing Finance.
  • Technology transformation
Working closely with IT, the role looks to innovate, develop, and implement technologies that improve control, increase information available for the business and automate finance activities

Key requirements:
  • Degree qualified with min 15 years in total, with min 10 years of related experience covering related exp covering settlements to cash receipts and payments processes
  • Has a strong understanding of commodity market s and the trade flow process gained in the commodity trading environment or banking (supporting commodity trading)
  • Solid business and financial acumen (eg: through business training such as CFA, MBA or similar).
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma.
  • Experience managing a team
  • Familiar with collaborative and innovative ways of working such as Agile.
  • Exceptional numerical and analytical skills
  • Detailed understanding of finance processes and proven track record in delivering finance processes streamlining and standardization.
  • SAP experience is a plus
  • Proficient skills with standard analytical software and tools
  • Good conceptual grasp of complexity
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good English verbal and communications skills
  • Some travel may be required
