ABOUT EQUAL Founded in 2015, EQUAL is a Singapore-based charity which focuses on transforming lives through animal-assisted services. EQUAL partners with rescued, retired or adopted animals (horses and dogs) to help bring healing and support to children, youths, families, seniors as well as persons with special needs. EQUAL\xe2\x80\x99s programmes seek to empower those whom we serve by enhancing their socio-emotional well-being, self-awareness and relationship management skills through animal-assisted programmes \xe2\x80\x93 developing resilience and strengthening individuals and communities. Our headquaters is in the Thomson area and we also run a programme centre in Enabling Village at Redhill.
ABOUT THE ROLE As EQUAL\xe2\x80\x99s Head of Governance & Finance, you will oversee all aspects of charity governance, corporate development, HR as well as financial management and accounting. You will support the Board, Finance Committee and CEO in developing EQUAL\xe2\x80\x99s financial strategy, financial model, budget planning, forecasting and financial controls such that EQUAL can grow sustainably and scale up to meet greater community and social service needs. As EQUAL is a charity with Institute of Public Character Status (IPC), you will be in charge of reviewing, proposing and putting policies, processes and systems in place to ensure EQUAL complies with all statutory and regulatory requirements. Corporate responsibilities will include managing our audit with the appointed auditors, serving as or working together with our Company Secretary, putting in place a risk management framework for EQUAL as well as serving as EQUAL\xe2\x80\x99s key Data Protection Officer (DPO). You will need to have the ability to plan strategically for the future of EQUAL while relooking at current structures and systems so as to make them more efficient for our team to operate in. You will also help to drive forward the growth and transformation of EQUAL by looking at two important areas that support our work: our people development (HR) and digitisation of our processes (IT). You will report to the CEO and you will be part of EQUAL\xe2\x80\x99s Leadership team looking into the strategic, sustainable and scalable growth of the organisation. You are required to be hands-on and you will lead and coach a department consisting of Finance and HR colleagues. You will contribute towards building a high-performing organisation, a great workplace and positive work culture for the organisation. You may also be required to work on other areas and projects as assigned by the Board and Management.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS Preferred Experience
Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience in financial management with managerial responsibilities, and preferably in the social services sector
Educational and professional background in accounting (ACCA, CIMA and/or ACA)
Familiar with Singapore Charity Accounting Standards & Corporate Governance for Social Service Agencies
Experience handling finance/accounting with other charities
