Global Asset Management, the investment management business of the HSBC Group, serves HSBC\xe2\x80\x99s worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions invested in both segregated accounts and pooled funds. Global Asset Management fulfills its purpose of connecting HSBC\xe2\x80\x99s clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices in approximately 30 countries, delivering global capabilities with local market insight.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Head of Operations Singapore and Southeast Asia.

This role is positioned as a key role in the senior management layer of AMSG and deputizes for the COO HSBC Asset Management Singapore (\xe2\x80\x9cAMSG\xe2\x80\x9d) at several forums of AMSG and Singapore country.

The incumbent is responsible for working in partnership with AMSG COO to support AM strategy across Southeast Asia region and engage with stakeholders across AM and the Group to translate this into an effective execution strategy. This role is responsible for ensuring effective governance structures and processes are in place.
The Head of Operations AM Singapore & Southeast Asia, reports directly to AMSG COO and is a senior leadership role within AMSG.
The role is a business leadership role responsible for the overall operations and infrastructure that supports AM Singapore and Southeast Asia development, including day-to day operations activities of public markets (equities, fixed income, money markets,\xe2\x80\xa6) as well as Alternatives investment capabilities within AMSG, the delivery of the operating and supporting model, the oversight of affiliate / third-party service providers, which AMSG is accountable for, ensuring a high-quality client experience and risk-controlled environment.
This is a senior leadership role which requires an individual with substantial experience in managing and driving change in investment management and operations, with a particular focus on driving client centricity, transformation, combined with robust governance, risk and compliance oversight management.

More specifically, the head of Operations, AMSG and Southeast Asia, covers client, funds and investment operations including all asset classes, public markets and Alternatives capabilities managed by AMSG and will support the expansion into Southeast Asia. He/she will support the Operations Director, Alternatives, in setting up fit-for-purpose operations services, onshore and offshore, aligned with the global operating model, while leveraging on global network markets set up and infrastructure whenever relevant.

He/she oversees the office management (administration, premise management, BCP) of AMSG.

The primary responsibilities of the role holder will be to: * Strategic - Partner with the Alternatives Operations Director / AMSG COO and Regional AM COO to support strategic execution and new business set-up across Southeast Asia region, and oversee associated risks

  • Service delivery \xe2\x80\x93 Responsible for operational, control & risk management which AMSG is accountable for
  • Change delivery \xe2\x80\x93 Support the delivery of operating model, inorganic growth and its integration and new business growth within AMSG across investment capabilities
  • 1LOD Controls and Governance \xe2\x80\x93 Responsible for all operational matters, day to day operational management of AMSG; ensure the compliance with HSBC risk management framework to manage and oversee all regulatory, clients and internal requirements and reduce operational risk to the firm whilst supporting significant growth targets
  • Costs and Efficiency - ensure operations costs, budgets and forecasts are managed effectively. Engage relevant stakeholders to improve operational efficiency across service providers, including AM Affiliates, HSBC Group and external 3rd parties
  • People - Promote the AM culture/guiding principles and co-ordinate to encourage maximum performance from themselves and their teams ensuring resources are prioritised based on AM\xe2\x80\x99s strategic objectives and corporate strategy.
  • Leadership: Provide leadership within AMSG and role modelling the HSBC values; Active and key member of the AMSG Committees and key governance forums, delegated from AMSG Senior
Requirements

Knowledge & Experience / Personal attributes
  • Extensive experience in Asset Management preferably with experience gained in Alternatives investment operations (back and middle office functions), investment accounting and tax reporting, risk management, investment operations outsourcing providers, witin an international working environment
  • Degree qualification, preferably in finance, commerce, economics. A post-graduate qualifications eg. CFA, CPA, CAIA would be desirable but not essential.
  • Experience in coordinating and executing change management processes, supporting transition of services to production in a controlled and governed way is essential for this role
  • Exposure to working knowledge of cross borders taxations and capital structure
  • Knowledge and experience of alternative investments i.e. Private Equity, hedge Funds, Private Debts or Real Assets would be highly desirable
  • Solid knowledge of regulatory landscape in Europe and Asia across main jurisdictions
  • Ability to understand and consolidate diverse and complex business information to translate into actions and propose operational solutions
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to work collaboratively across the organization; Team-player, constructive and balance working attitude, providing guidance and mentoring to more junior colleagues
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to able to lead discussion with various senior stakeholders from multiple functions
