Job Description
The Head of Trading will be responsible for leading and executing the company's cross-barrel trading strategy while managing and mentoring a team of traders. This is a hands-on trading role, requiring active market participation alongside the leadership and strategic responsibilities of managing the trading desk.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the trading desk, executing trades across crude oil and refined products (cross-barrel) to achieve commercial targets.
Develop and implement the firm's overall trading strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and market opportunities.
Manage risk, exposure, and P&L for the trading desk, ensuring adherence to internal limits and compliance policies.
Identify and capitalise on arbitrage, blending, storage, and logistics opportunities across global markets.
Build and maintain relationships with counterparties, suppliers, customers, and brokers to maximise deal flow.
Oversee and mentor traders, providing guidance on market strategy, deal structuring, and risk management.
Collaborate closely with operations, risk, finance, and compliance teams to ensure smooth execution of trades.
Monitor and analyse global oil market trends, geopolitical developments, and macroeconomic factors impacting trading strategies.
Represent the firm at industry events and maintain a strong presence in relevant market networks.
