Job Description

The Venture Creation & Growth (?VCG?) group within the Enterprise Division of A*STAR is responsible for spin-off activities within A*STAR, including the education and evangelization to the A*STAR community on startups, incubation, spin-off formation and portfolio management. We work closely with our A*STAR scientific community to prepare our scientist-entrepreneurs with the necessary mindset and skillsets to launch their start-ups successfully. Our support comes in various forms, ranging from having an incubation facility with the appropriate incubation support, to bootcamps, courses, exhibitions and events. After the start-ups are launched, we continue to support them on their journey by connecting them to the corporate and investor communities, as well as helping them to internationalize through introducing them to global partners as well as to our A*STAR Suzhou Partner Centre.

VCG is seeking a highly motivated individual to identify and project manage A*STAR spinoffs incubated within the venture building programme. This role will require the candidate to oversee various activities within the programme and interact with other internal stakeholders.

Position Scope & Responsibilities

• Engage A*STAR researchers, corporate partners and internal stakeholders on spinoff creation
• Evaluate venture opportunities based on A*STAR technology
• Support teams to perform deep-dive qualitative and quantitative research and analysis into end-users, markets, industries, technologies and competitors, formulate and test business models and other quantitative analysis (e.g., financial modelling), customer interviews, storyboarding etc.
• Project manage ongoing venture projects to ensure timely milestone delivery
• Focus on Biomedical / Science & Engineering sector

Requirements

? Masters or PhD in Business, Finance, Science/Engineering or relevant fields

? 4+ years of work experience with demonstrated track record of project management, venture building and/or business analysis

? Prior experience with building and scaling technology start-ups / early-stage companies or VCs would be highly advantageous

? Good soft skills and interpersonal skills to cultivate relationships with founders, investors, and internal/external stakeholders

? A team player and ability to handle ambiguity

? Excellent time management and ability to multi-task and prioritise work while being meticulous and organised

? A self-starter, independent and resourceful
