Job Description


:

The Health Care Assistant will provide support and assistance in providing the residents with basic hygiene and personal care on a daily basis, attending to their needs and notifying attending nurses of any changes in the physical or emotional state of residents.

Clinical Care:

  • Carries out duties / procedures assigned by the registered nurse (or the administrator if there is no registered nurse).
  • Assists in the serving of medicine and ensures that the residents take their medicine.
  • Assists the registered nurse (or administrator) in the nursing procedures and treatments for the residents, e.g. wound dressing.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by the registered nurse (or administrator).
  • Conduct ART/PCR Swab : weekly 25% of residents/ad-hoc D4 & D7 after medical appointments of residents/when COVID breakout for PCR/ART swab.
  • Daily prepared dossier (includes twice a day temperature taking & checking in on their health status).
  • Identifies and reports residents\xe2\x80\x99 needs to the registered nurse (or administrator).
  • Ensures the safety, comfort and well-being of the residents and reports problems to the registered nurse (or administrator). Attends to complaints of the residents.
General duties
  • Helps to maintain a clean, safe and neat environment for the residents in the Sheltered Home.
  • Assists and supervises the personal hygiene care, oral toilet, bathing and grooming of residents.
  • Performs routine cleaning of the ward/all rooms/laundry/other areas and equipment.
  • Helps in the cleaning of utensils and the dining hall.
  • Assists in the conduct of daily exercise for the residents.
  • Assists in serving meals and drinks.
  • Helps to maintain the fluid and nutritional needs of the residents.
  • Accompanies residents to the hospital / polyclinic for follow-up appointments.
  • Assists in organising visits for residents to go for their medical check-ups; arranges transport and accompanies residents to the hospital / polyclinic.
  • Accompanies residents for their outing trips.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of care given.
  • Assists in the admission and orientation of new residents.
  • Visitor log book (to keep track in and out of visitors (who, contact number, time, essential purpose) & their ART results.
  • Residents movement log book (their in and out of home for essential needs) - eg. Doctor appt, dialysis.
  • Checking of medical inventory supply. Make sure there is enough to last for the next 1-2 months and take note of the expiration date.
Qualifications:
  • Able to read and understand simple English
  • Able to speak dialect an advantage
