We are seeking a compassionate and experienced High School Counsellor to provide social and emotional support to students in Grades 9-12. This is a non-academic counselling role focused on helping students navigate adolescence, manage emotional challenges, and develop resilience and interpersonal skills.
The ideal candidate will be student-centered, culturally sensitive, and able to build trusting relationships with students, families, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individual and group counselling to support students' emotional and social wellbeing.
Address issues such as anxiety, stress, identity, peer relationships, grief, and personal challenges.
Collaborate with school staff to identify and support students experiencing emotional difficulties.
Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.
Develop and deliver wellbeing programs, workshops, and preventative education initiatives.
Liaise with external mental health professionals when necessary.
Maintain accurate records and uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and ethics.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Certified or licensed counsellor or therapist (or equivalent qualification).
Minimum 2-3 years' experience working with adolescents, preferably in a school setting.
Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, mental health, and trauma-informed practices.
Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience in international or multicultural environments is a strong advantage.
