Role Purpose



As an English Teacher with the British Council, you will deliver high-quality, impactful teaching that supports effective learning for all students. You'll play a key role in strengthening the British Council's reputation as a global leader in education and cultural relations, while contributing to our mission of building trust and understanding between people in the UK and worldwide.


Main Accountabilities:



In this role, you will deliver engaging English lessons to individuals and groups of up to 18 students, using a variety of teaching methods and technologies to meet diverse learner needs. You'll adapt materials as needed, ensure timely completion of administrative tasks, and maintain high standards of professionalism in every aspect of your teaching.


As part of the British Council's global English strategy, you'll contribute to our reputation as a world authority in English Language Teaching through continuous professional development and the sharing of best practices. Your commitment to excellence will help drive impactful learning experiences and support our wider cultural relations mission.



Qualifications & Experience



Essentials:



Cambridge CELTA or Trinity cert TESOL or equivilants as recognised by British Council. 2 years post-certificate i.e. CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL experience 2 years experience teaching Young Learners Undergraduate degree Experience in teaching relevant age groups specific to the centre: Early Years aged 2 to 5 (400+hours) Primary aged 6 to 10 (400+ hours) Lower Secondary aged 11 to 14 (800+ hours) Upper Secondary aged 15 to 17 (400+ hours) University/Vocational students aged 18 to 25 (400+hours) Adults General English 18+ (800+ hours)

Desirables:



Recognised diploma in EFL i.e. DELTA PGCE/B.Ed in Primary or relevant subject Specialist experience teaching Early Years, Primary and Secondary Young Learners Familiarity with the Singaporean education system CELTYL or TYLEC Experience of teaching adults Business English experience IELTS preparation experience Experience teaching 1:1 or small groups
