JOB SUMMARY

Assist the Executive Housekeeper and/or Assistant Executive Housekeeper in the day-to-day running of the laundry department, including the relevant administrative aspects of the department.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assume responsibility for Housekeeping Department in the absence of the Executive Housekeeper and/or Assistant Executive Housekeeper.
• Keep records of all controllable items, sales figures and production figures.
• Roster laundry associates to maximize manpower with machinery and production needs.
• Maintains high level of co-operation between departments/ sections of the hotel with the laundry department.
• Ensures quality and consistency of all work produced.
• Liaising with suppliers to obtain the best value for all purchase made in the interest of the organization.
• Plans, implements and conducts training for laundry associates.
• Responsible for all the necessary documentation and licenses from various government departments required to operate a laundry plant.
• Ensures a healthy P&L bottom line for both Housekeeping & Laundry departments.
• Ensures that safety precaution, fire evacuation and emergency procedures are adhered by laundry associates.
• Carries out quality control checks of the rooms and public areas and assigns any necessary duties to Housekeeping and Engineering associates.
• Conducts new hire interviews and recruitment.
• Analyses staff daily assignments and ensure adequate coverage of housekeeping area on all shifts.
• Plans department\xe2\x80\x99s monthly rosters.
• Schedules and monitors work carried out by contractors and make suggestions to improve standards.
• Conducts orientation for newcomers on their first day.
• Periodically checks on the various housekeeping stores ensuring cleanliness and orderliness.
• Checks on all housekeeping equipment regularly and liaise with vendors for repair and/or maintenance.
• Oversees the job functions of Housekeeping Manager (Rooms) in his/her absence.
• Conducts appraisal sessions with associate as and when designated by HR.
• Plans and assists with 15 minutes training.
• Evaluates 90 days and annual appraisal of housekeeping associates.
• Keeps records and monitors annual leave and public holidays of all associates.
• Handles guest complaints and requests, promptly and efficiently.
• Counsel staff and take disciplinary actions where necessary.
• Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum a Higher Nitec certificate in Hospitality & Tourism Management.
• At least 2 years of Housekeeping Supervisory experience.
• Great teamwork.
• Great multi-tasking skills; communication skills; interpersonal skills.
• Able to start work within short notice period.
