Job Description

The NTU Office of Commercial and Auxiliary Services (OCAS) is responsible for the strategic planning, management, and marketing of commercial real estate, hospitality (including Nanyang Executive Centre) and auxiliary services (car parks and shuttle bus services) in NTU main campus and NTU@one-north.
The Nanyang Executive Centre (NEC) is located at the NTU Main Campus. Currently undergoing refurbishment, the NEC features 150 guestrooms and aims to offer a premier venue for corporate training, retreats and private events.
We are looking for an experienced and service-oriented Housekeeping Supervisor to oversee and coordinate the daily operations of the housekeeping staff to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction. This is a leadership-focused role that involves training, scheduling, inspecting work, and managing inventory. This role reports to the Housekeeping Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Staff management and training
Schedules shifts, assigns daily tasks, and organizes replacements for staff absences.
Provides training and coaching for new and existing housekeeping staff on cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and company standards.
Monitors staff performance, provides feedback, and handles any disciplinary issues.
Motivates team members to maintain high morale and foster a positive work environment.
Quality assurance and guest satisfaction
Inspects guest rooms, public areas (like lobbies and hallways), and other hotel spaces to ensure they meet cleanliness and safety standards.
Responds promptly and professionally to guest requests, concerns, and complaints.
Communicates with other departments, such as the front desk and maintenance, to provide timely updates on room statuses and to report any repair needs.
Inventory and operations
Manages inventory of cleaning supplies, linens, and in-room amenities, placing orders as needed.
Ensures that all equipment is in working order and coordinates repairs or replacements.
Adheres to and enforces health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including the proper handling of chemicals.
Administrative function
Maintains records of housekeeping activities, such as completed rooms and inventory counts. amenities, placing orders as needed.
Helps with hiring and onboarding new staff.
Assists with cleaning duties during staff shortages or high-volume periods.
Requirements:
A diploma or equivalent in Hospitality Management, Tourism, or a related field.
Previous experience in a housekeeping or hospitality role is essential, with prior supervisory experience preferred.
Leadership and team management: Strong ability to supervise, motivate, and train a team.
Organizational and time management: Excellent skills for planning schedules, delegating tasks, and managing time-sensitive deadlines.
Attention to detail: A meticulous eye for cleanliness and presentation is crucial.
Communication and interpersonal skills: The ability to communicate effectively with staff, management, and guests.
Problem-solving: Aptitude for resolving issues, from guest complaints to staffing conflicts.
Adaptability: Capacity to work under pressure and adapt to changing workloads and schedules.
Able to work rotating shifts.
