Job Description

Wood has an opportunity for a HSE Tamil Trainer. There is an increased thrust to deliver our services for the growing Asian market. As a result of this, HSSE Department operation is expanding and evolving to manage the challenges of regional projects that continue to pose challenges in offering our services through a global talent pool.

  • Conduct HSE training programs and project induction.
  • Communicate health and safety action plans, concerns and decisions to respective personnel on site, client and contractors.
  • Carry out daily HSE inspections, and to follow up on any deficiencies noted with contractors' field management.
  • Participate in the investigation and reporting of any incidents that require such action. Follow up on medical treatment for any casualty.
  • Implement proactive measures to curb accident/incident, unsafe behaviors/conditions from recurrence through promotion, campaigns, and talks/training.
  • Manage site HSE records (audit, inspection, meetings, incidents, tool box talks, pre-job start talk etc).
  • Ensure contractor implement the safe work procedure as per agreed work methods.
  • Conduct BBSOs to identify unsafe behavior or conditions to reduce loss or near loss incidents and reinforce good safety behavior.
  • Attend Pre-start and Toolbox Meetings.
  • Implement HSE programs with reference to construction 60 days' ahead programs, legal requirements and best practices
  • Perform other related duties assigned by direct supervisor.
Skills / Qualifications
  • Holding a certified trainer certificate such as ACTA or ACLP
  • Must be fluent in Tamil to conduct training in Tamil.
  • Must be able to prepare training material in Tamil and provide translation for procedures and project documents.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the same role with exposure to construction projects especially in the oil, petrol and pharmaceuticals sectors.
  • Able to interpret the project fire, safety, health and environment plan and implement the program during construction and commissioning phase.
  • Familiar with Wood, Client and International Certification systems (e.g. ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 systems), applicable for the project.
  • Fulfil the qualification, experience and competency required by local regulatory agency to act as the project HSE supervisor. (for future transition)
