Job Description


  • Monitoring the health of patients to identify signs of infection and disease progression
  • Educating patients about proper hygiene techniques and encouraging them to practice good health habits such as hand washing, dressing changes, etc.
  • Coordinating with other members of the healthcare team, including physicians, pharmacists, lab technicians, and social workers, to ensure that patients receive appropriate treatment and follow up care
  • Diagnosing and managing infectious disease cases in collaboration with other healthcare professionals
  • Coordinating with community agencies and social service providers to help patients meet their basic needs
  • Assisting with the development of infection control protocols and policies to protect patients and staff from exposure to infectious diseases

  • Works closely with other governmental agencies with regard to public health issues as they pertain to the health care setting including reporting activities of mandated Reportable Diseases/Conditions
  • Maintains documentation to Infection Prevention programs, nosocomial infections and reportable diseases
  • Investigates all cases of employee exposures to communicable diseases and blood and/or body fluids
  • Performing hospital audits and providing educational opportunities to enhance the understanding of MOH reporting requirements
  • Conduct table top and pandemic drills

Requirements:
  • Must be SNB registered nurse with a post qualifications on OTNC or CCNC or equivalent
  • Must be ASPIC trained or and infection control training
  • Must have 5 years working experience in Community Care
  • Serving as a resource to SLEC on best practices for quality improvement and patient safety
  • Providing input into the MOH reporting program activities
  • Performing audits
  • Providing educational opportunities to enhance the understanding of MOH reporting requirements
  • Training and monitoring/auditing staff in strict adherence to Infection Control practices according to regulatory guidelines, facility policy and procedures
  • Ensuring additional training is provided to staff to meet regulatory requirements
