Infrastructure Sector Lead - South & South East Asia

The Global Infrastructure Practice has a Director Opening and is looking to fill it as soon as possible. The successful candidate will be based in Singapore and will act as a Sector Lead focused on Australasia, North Asia, or Southeast Asia depending on location.

The Team / The Business:
The Global Infrastructure Practice was established by S&P Global to expand our ratings franchise in an area of strong growth and to leverage our significant global infrastructure expertise across the full range of infrastructure asset classes. Analytical team members reside in 16 locations globally and work on a diverse range of transactions globally applying different ratings criteria, predominantly corporate and project finance. We also work on transactions in partnership with other practices on a regular basis. Effective teamwork and a thoughtful approach to problem solving are highly valued.

Your analysis and work is essential to the covering of a diverse portfolio of credits, as well as in the training of others to help them resolve difficult day-to-day analytical issues and problems. As new asset classes evolve, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of different project and corporate credits. You will be skilled at dealing with issuers and investors, have strong external engagement and presentation skills and be able to effectively "tell the credit story" in written and verbal form. Your coaching and mentoring skills will be recognized and appreciated by your teams. You will be well organized and efficient in your approach to deadlines and problem-solving. You will have a strong background and interest in the APAC Infrastructure sector and be able to intelligently engage with others on matters of substance in this sector.

Key Responsibilities
As a Director, you will analyze a portfolio of assigned entities as well as complex situations, data, and information, assess client\'s financial projections and resolve difficult deal-specific analytical situations. This position involves meeting with issuers and investors on analytical matters, assisting in resolving client needs, contributing to media requirements in conjunction with other senior members of the organization, and taking the lead at external meetings related to credits. Specifically, in this role, the Sector Lead will:

  • Act as a critical face of the Global Infrastructure Team to key stakeholders in the region, including public speaking engagements and relationship management, with an enhanced focus and accountability for external outreach
  • Act as an industry expert for internal and external interactions, conduct research and lead critical internal and cross-practice projects.
  • Have responsibility for supporting and coaching members of the analytical team, particularly those in their specific area of expertise.
  • Display strong sector expertise. Publish timely industry commentaries, and proficiently write sector reviews and thought leadership pieces. Develop and lead ideas on papers across a broad range of issues for publication in S&P journals and other publications.
  • Model the leadership behaviors and coach and mentor junior staff
  • Understand and implement S&P\'s Policies and SOPs
  • Take the lead on special projects within the Global Infrastructure Practice as appropriate
Qualifications
The candidate should possess critical thinking skills, along with numerical strength. A bachelor\'s and advanced degree is required, plus 7-10 years in financial services. In addition, the candidate must have: excellent time management and the ability to stay organized, meet deadlines, and multitask; strong verbal communication and writing skills; analytical and problem-solving skills; the ability to think independently and critically; and the ability to mentor others.
