In-Situ Machining, Laser Technician/Specialist

We are looking for In-Situ Machining, Laser Technician/Specialist. This is a permanent opportunity, and its location is Singapore.

About the position

What will you be doing:

Your work will focus on setting up and operating a variety of QuantiServ In-Situ machines as below but not limited to:

• Crankpin machining / grinding In-Situ
• Machine / grind main journals In-Situ
• Annealing of crankpin if high hardness is found In-Situ
• Line boring of main bearing pockets / cam shaft pockets In-Situ
• Line boring and slewing of engine block for liner seating In-Situ
• Replacement of resilient mounting and steel springs of 4 stroke engines
• Laser alignment of engines, pumps, foundations, stern tube bearings and shaft lines.

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

• Ensure risk assessment conducted at work and all times complying to local Workplace Health, Safety and Environment regulations
• To be able to go for new job inspection and to be able to plan time and materials / tools / machines for the job to be done.
• Must be able to travel overseas as and when required for jobs, often with very short notice.
• Must be able to interpret technical drawings and other technical documents to determine appropriate repair solutions.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area daily.
• Conduct machine / tool preventive maintenance as and when required.
• Must execute all tasks with all prescribed safety equipment in place, and fully comply to QuantiServ / Wartsila Health & Safety rules and regulations.

Development Responsibilities:

• To ensure the team and yourself adopt safe working processes and safe working approach at all times.
• To continue to look for improvement to our methods and tools.
• To learn and train in new services not known to you, by training under more senior colleagues
