About the Course

Vertical Institute's Cybersecurity Course provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of today's cybersecurity landscape and the skills required to secure modern digital environments. The curriculum covers key areas such as network security, risk assessment and vulnerability management, threat intelligence and incident response, security governance and regulatory requirements (including MAS TRM, PDPA, and GDPR), common cyber threats and mitigation techniques, as well as major industry standards like ISO 27001, NIST, and CIS. Through hands-on labs, case studies, and guided walkthroughs of real attack and defense scenarios, learners gain practical, job-ready expertise that prepares them for cybersecurity roles, particularly within the financial sector.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver engaging, beginner-friendly live classes via Zoom on foundational cybersecurity topics Break down complex concepts (e.g., encryption, zero-trust models, threat modelling) into simple, relatable explanations for non-technical learners Facilitate practical labs, incident response exercises, and scenario-based discussions Offer personalised feedback and mentorship during and beyond class sessions Continuously refine teaching methods based on student input and new industry developments Work closely with the curriculum team to keep course content updated and aligned with current practices

Requirements

At least 5 years of cybersecurity experience in the Finance industry, including hands-on work in: Cybersecurity architecture and threat management Security operations, SIEM, and incident response Risk and compliance frameworks, audits, or governance Strong technical understanding of: Security tools, protocols, and technologies (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection) Standards and frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, CIS Controls, and MAS TRM Data protection laws and regulations (e.g., PDPA, GDPR) Excellent communication and teaching abilities, especially when simplifying advanced topics Comfortable teaching via Zoom with a dependable remote setup (camera, mic, stable internet) Previous training, teaching, or mentorship experience is highly preferred
