Job Description

We are seeking a robust, ambitious Associate to join a leading international arbitration practice in Singapore. The successful candidate will work on high-profile, complex cases alongside experienced practitioners, with a focus on commercial and investor-state arbitrations in Asia, across all the major industry sectors most relevant to international arbitration including corporate, construction, energy, financial services, telecommunications and public services.For this role, we are ideally wanting to hear from fluent Japanese speakers to support our clients Japanese-connected disputes (while also contributing across the practice more generally). English language capability also essential.Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct sophisticated international law research and draft analytical legal memoranda and client correspondence
• Contribute to drafting complex arbitration memorials and managing preparation of witness statements and expert reports
• Run discrete work streams for high-value cases, including coordinating document reviews and managing witness meetings
• Research discrete questions of Singapore law in the context of international arbitrations
• Support cases run from Singapore, Tokyo, and Hong Kong, and the global network
• Prepare client presentations and publications, and assist in exploring business development opportunities

Candidate Profile:

• High-quality lawyer with strong technical and commercial experience from a leading law firm
• Relevant experience in a common law jurisdiction (c3-6yrs PQE)
• Strong intellectual skills and academic qualifications
• Fluency in Japanese / English

• Confident and self-motivated, with ability to work independently and manage a challenging workload with extended hours
• Culturally sensitive and excited to work with clients and counterparties from diverse backgrounds
• Ability to take on a high degree of responsibility and manage multiple projects simultaneously
