What you’ll do As the International Epidemiology Associate Medical Director for Vaccines and Immune Therapies (V&I), you will:

  • Lead the development and execution of robust & holistic regional evidence generation plans across the Areas and key markets in alignment with global evidence plans, Area business and medical priorities
  • Work closely with multiple stakeholders including the local markets, Areas, and Global evidence generation teams to design, assess and optimise internal and external evidence generation proposals
  • Explore and introduce innovative ways of generating evidence, through engagement and partnerships with leading scientific societies, governments, and research groups
  • Work in collaboration with medical, government affairs, and communication functions at Regional, local and Global level to ensure timely communication of real world evidence to the local authorities, advisory committees, and key external experts.
  • Provide scientific insights and advice of epidemiology and evidence generation-related questions of local teams, and design and provide customized technical trainings to the Regional and local cross-functional teams for capability building in medical affairs
  • Represent AstraZeneca at key leading scientific societies, build and maintain strong network with key epidemiology and health economics experts, health technology assessment agencies, regulatory agencies etc
  • Drive patient centricity and innovation through all aspects of Vaccine & Immune Therapies portfolio data generation and communication
  • Appropriately manage governance interactions and alignment across International and Global V&I cross-functional teams, and other key stakeholders to provide well-coordinated input into critical business decisions
Essential for the role
  • A Postgraduate Degree is required with scientific experience, preferably with an advanced degree (e.g., Ph D; MD with Master’s degree or PharmD) focused on relevant expertise (Epidemiology)
  • Proven success in an above market role
  • Substantial vaccines and infectious diseases knowledge
  • Strong epidemiology skills with experience in developing, communicating and executing strategic plans
  • Demonstrated influencing skills and stakeholder management
  • Experience in working in a matrix environment with the agility to work across different countries and cultures
  • Experience working and engaging with teams remotely
Desirable for the role
  • Additional Health Economics experience would be highly regarded
  • Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills, demonstrating flexibility and a proven ability to deal with complexity under high intensity and time pressure situations
  • Experience and effectiveness in the presentation of written and verbal evidence generation resource requests to the senior management
  • A flexible, team orientated attitude, willing to contribute one’s own skills to deliver AZ priority projects
