A procurement manager is

responsible for acquiring goods and services for a company by sourcing, negotiating with, and managing suppliers to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality supply

Key duties include developing sourcing strategies, negotiating contracts, and managing the procurement process from start to finish, which requires strong negotiation, organizational, and financial skills.


Key responsibilities

Supplier management:

Find and develop relationships with reliable suppliers, negotiate contracts to get the best terms, and manage ongoing partnerships.

Cost management:

Develop strategies to reduce procurement costs and ensure the company receives the best value for money.

Process oversight:

Manage the entire procurement process, from initial request to final delivery, and maintain accurate logs and reports.

Risk management:

Assess and mitigate risks associated with suppliers and the supply chain to prevent disruptions.

Inventory control:

Monitor and manage stock levels to ensure there is always enough supply.
Skills and qualifications

Experience:

Experience in a procurement, buying, or related field is essential. Experience in the company's specific industry is highly recommended.

Key skills:Negotiation:

Strong negotiation skills are crucial for securing advantageous terms.

Financial acumen:

An understanding of budgets, cost structures, and financial analysis is needed to identify cost savings.

Organizational skills:

Project management and organizational skills are necessary to oversee complex processes.
