We are seeking a highly motivated and talented intern to join our R&D Bioinformatics team at Biopolis for a minimum of 6-month internship. As a Bioinformatics & Proteomics Data Science Intern, you will have the opportunity to be part of our mission to leverage advanced clinical data analysis in unraveling cancer and neurodegenerative disease pathways and innovating drug development, with the potential to positively impact the lives of millions worldwide.
Your Role May Entail:
\xc2\xb7 Applying and optimizing advanced algorithms to analyze clinical and biological protein datasets, gaining a deep understanding of their practical implementation.
\xc2\xb7 Conducting in-depth analysis of biological pathways to gain insight into disease mechanisms in cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.
\xc2\xb7 AI Imaging of high-dimensional datasets
\xc2\xb7 Engaging in user-centric design and software engineering using design patterns, cloud and containerisation to support ongoing bioinformatics projects.
\xc2\xb7 Interpreting and visualizing complex biological data to derive meaningful insights.
\xc2\xb7 Contributing to the maintenance and updating of internal databases and bioinformatics tools.
Requirements:
\xc2\xb7 Currently pursuing a degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Bio-engineering, Biological Science, Pharmaceutical Science or a related field, with demonstrated proficiency in coding and data analysis, and a strong interest in bioinformatics and human health.
\xc2\xb7 For Computer Science students, experience in or exposure to biological sciences is unnecessary but is advantageous.
\xc2\xb7 Proficiency in Python is essential. You will use functions, class inheritance, pandas and matplotlib/seaborn. Familiarity with R language is a plus.
\xc2\xb7 Capability to perform statistical analysis, including multiple linear regression, linear models, and statistical tests.
\xc2\xb7 Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, and excellent communication and teamwork skills.
