The Mechanobiology Institute, Singapore is a multi-disciplinary institute committed to developing new paradigms for biomedical research by focusing on the quantitative analysis of dynamic functional processes. Through quantitative biophysical approaches, we address major problems in biomedical sciences including pathogenesis (from bacterial to cancer), tissue regeneration and function.

We are seeking an IT Support Officer to manage desktop and laptop computing hardware, and provide troubleshooting expertise to users concerning system software, utilities and networking.

Responsibilities

• Installation, procurement and maintenance of personal computing hardware (desktop and laptops)
• Installation and maintenance of software applications on personal computers, including installation of software patches and upgrades
• Troubleshooting problems on: personal computers, printing/ scanning and network connectivity
• User support including software installation and configuration, Windows AD local and domain account access
• Interface with NUS IT Helpdesk to assist users with IT related issues
• Updating intranet self-help FAQ guides using WordPress
• Manage server room infrastructure including cable pulling, hardware inventory, cooling system, monitoring system and procurement
• Manage Apple Mac server and provide Apple frontend support for Mac users
• Help users configure and order new systems and manage repairs for broken personal computers
• Manage Audio-Visual and Telecommunications systems (e.g. for Zoom seminars and for in-person events)
• Creation/ management of accounts for in-house software and networking
• Ad hoc duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree holder in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Engineering or related disciplines with 3 years of relevant experience in technical support
• Good knowledge of the Microsoft ecosystem (Windows, Office, Azure)
• Good knowledge of MacOS and Apple ecosystem
• Knowledgeable with desktop and laptop troubleshooting
• Experience with Audio-Visual systems and teleconferencing
• Basic understanding of TCP/ IP networking, proxies, SSL, AD & LDAP
• Good problem-solving skills and willingness to bring new ideas to the table for improving ICT
• Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team to support MBI\'s scientists and students
• Willingness to learn new IT skills and technologies
• Basic Linux knowledge and basic SAP knowledge would be a plus
