Job Description

:CNA Digital is looking for a journalist based in Malaysia to deliver stories and provide support for its international news team covering Southeast Asia, in particular Indonesia and Malaysia. :

• Write digital news stories with text and visual elements (such as photos, videos and graphics) from press releases and other sources
• Collect and assess information about newsworthy events from a variety of sources, including social media, other news outlets, tip offs and personal contacts
• Gather and verify information through interviews, observation and research
• Liaise with field correspondents as well as editorial staff from other news platforms to ensure their stories are processed promptly and presented as effectively as possible
• Utilise social media as a tool for promoting content

• Support desk\'s operations by processing text, video and pictures and loading the material onto publication platforms ready for editorial review
• Monitor relevant regional news coverage by other media platforms
• Assist in general administrative duties

Qualifications:Requirements :

• Applicants with at least 2 years\' experience working in a newsroom preferred, especially those with a strong emphasis on online news
• Minimum diploma/degree in Mass Communication, Arts and Social Sciences or related areas
• An awareness of the regional news agenda
• An awareness of what works in attracting attention on social media
• An awareness of trends in digital news and social media
• An eye for detail, with the ability to produce accurate, error-free work
• Able to work quickly, sometimes under pressure of a breaking news situation
• Excellent communication and writing skills in English
• Fluency in Malay language, proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia a plus
• Be prepared to work irregular hours, including weekends and public holidays for major news events
