Overview of Role

The Junior Fuel Oil Analyst is part of the Oil Research team based in Singapore reporting to the Head of Research, Asia Pacific. He/She is responsible for tracking global flows and updating East of Suez Supply and Demand Balance models. To provide high quality and regular analysis to the Fuel Oil desks, the Oil Research team, and across the Gunvor group.

Main Responsibilities

• Tracking of global fuel oil flows by product grades: send daily and weekly reports on main inter-regional flows. Analyze emerging trends and provide insights to trading desks.
• Link the live arbitrage flows matrix to the East of Suez Fuel Oil Supply-Demand models and Global Shipping model.
• Timely and concise analysis of market developments relating to the crude oil and oil products markets, discuss trading opportunities with analysts and traders.
• Collaborate with other analysts to analyze the macro oil supply and demand and impact on fuel oil markets.
• Monitor the development of alternative fuels in the marine bunker and power generation markets including renewables, biofuels and natural gas
• Assist in producing market outlook slide pack for senior management
• Perform other ad-hoc duties assigned by manager

Profile

The individual should have the following experience:

• Strong analytical skills
• High accuracy of data input
• Proficient computer applications knowledge in Excel and strong aptitude to master basic level of Python programming
• Strong prioritization and time management skills with ability to work under pressure in dynamic environment
• Ability to work with tight deadlines
• Self-motivated individual and ability to work independently with limited supervision
