Job Overview:
We are assembling a team of hardworking, service-oriented individuals passionate about the F&B industry. As a Kitchen Assistant (Flexi), you will support daily kitchen operations at Swee Lee Cafe & Bar. This role focuses on preparing cafe menu items such as pastas, snacks, and sandwiches, while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food quality, and safety. The ideal candidate is self-driven, organised, and eager to learn, with the ability to assist during events and support the front-of-house team when required.
Responsibilities:
Food Preparation

• Prepare menu items such as pastas, snacks (e.g., fries, drumlets), sandwiches, and small plates following recipes and portioning standards.
• Assist with basic prep including chopping, marinating, portioning, and mise-en-place.

Daily Kitchen Operations

• Assist in the setup and breakdown of the kitchen to ensure smooth service flow.
• Ensure all stations are well-stocked, organised, and operational.

Order Fulfillment

• Prepare and send out orders promptly according to kitchen SOPs and quality standards.
• Coordinate with the bar and floor team to ensure fast ticket turnaround.

Cooking Stations

• Operate fryers, induction cookers, ovens, and other equipment safely and effectively.
• Monitor cooking times, temperatures, and food consistency.

Cleanliness & Hygiene

• Maintain a clean and sanitised workstation throughout the shift.
• Follow all food safety standards, proper storage methods, and hygiene requirements.
• Handle raw and cooked ingredients safely.

Dishwashing

• Operate dishwashing machines and perform manual washing when required.
• Ensure all utensils, equipment, and cookware are cleaned and stored properly.

Inventory & Stock Management

• Assist with receiving, checking, labelling, and storing deliveries (FIFO).
• Report low stock or quality issues.

Event Support

• Support kitchen operations during events, pop-ups, corporate bookings, and venue activations.
• Prepare event-specific food items and assist with setup and teardown.
• Coordinate closely with the events and bar team for smooth F&B service.

Cross-Department Assistance (When Required)

• Support floor service during peak hours or events, such as running food or clearing plates.
• Maintain strong communication and teamwork across all departments.

Collaboration & Professionalism

• Work closely with the kitchen, bar, and floor teams to ensure seamless operations.
• Uphold Swee Lee Cafe's standards of hospitality, cleanliness, and efficiency.

Requirements:

• Passion for food preparation and interest in developing kitchen skills.
• Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Prior F&B or kitchen experience is a plus but not required.
• Able to work weekends, evenings, and public holidays when required.
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and adaptability.
• Location: Clarke Quay (Singapore).
