To provide non-teaching administrative support to the teaching staff in the following areas :
Daily Duty
Preparation of equipment and / or teaching and learning aids for experiments conducted by teachers and students from Primary 3 to Primary 6
Replenishing items that are consumed eg limewater, iodine, paper towels, hand soap
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of all three Science labs and preparation rooms and science equipment
Maintain the Science garden e.g Basic planting and maintenance, daily watering of plants and clearing of stagnant water in flower pots etc
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the hydroponic area. E.g. prepare, wash and clean the hydroponic beds before and after each cycle of planting and harvesting
Ensure the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced and that everything is clearly and correctly labelled
After-school programme Support
Prepare teaching resources and equipment required for CCA and E2K sessions weekly.
Other Duties
Prepare teaching resources for teachers and department head. E.g lamination of posters, data entry, scanning of pictures for worksheets
Check, count and sort Science magazines according to class register numbers for distribution
Maintaining the equipment eg microscopes in the Science Labs are in good working order
Assisting the Head of Department and Subject Head to liaise with vendors.
Assisting in science activities e.g. science week activities and other adhoc administrative activities such as keying in of inventory items.
Assisting science teachers in conducting laboratory activities.
Any other duties as assigned by Head of Department / Level Head / teacher-in-charge.
Requirements:
GCE \xe2\x80\x98O\xe2\x80\x99 Level or equivalent
Proficient in English Language and Science knowledge
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Must be a team player
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Able to multi-task and work independently
Preferably have relevant experience and knowledge working as a Science Laboratory Assistant in a primary school environment and/or Skills
Resourceful to prepare teaching and learning aids using existing materials, for students to explore during laboratory work, leading to cost savings
Meticulous, pro-active, a keen eye for details eg designing learning aids for students that must be age appropriate and keeping in mind students\xe2\x80\x99 safety
Willing to learn with a positive attitude, flexible, open to suggestions and ideas
Medically fit
Working Hours:
42.5 hours per week based on a 5-day work week
Mondays to Fridays, 7:00am to 4.00pm
The above work schedule is inclusive of a 30-minute lunch break and is also applicable to school holidays
Contract Duration:
Base Period : 1 Jan 2024 to 31 Dec 2024 (12 months)
Option Period : 1 Jan 2025 to 31 Dec 2025 (12 months)
