Role Responsibilities
Delivery and Risk Management

  • Ensure automated toolchains are maintained (or developed where not in place) for CI / CD and zero touch release / rollback, identifying any exceptions and gaining exemptions as required.
  • Identify, drive and manage the remediation of FM obsolescence across the application estate (infra, OS, DB, components, application version).
  • Develop plans, options and approaches to resolve approaching obsolescence and drives forward with the teams across FM.
  • Cyclical assessment of applications against the bank’s security standards and setting/estimating risk mitigation plans where gaps exist.
  • Proactive engagement of relevant security officers to identify future security needs of the application and defining plans to proactively address.
  • Build out the Documents and Channels squads with the requisite skills and experience to deliver the FMRP requirements. Manage the team for success across all relevant locations.
Stability, Scalability and Resilience
  • Build strong partnership with production support teams and proactively manage any issues.
  • Ensure relevant markers and metrics (KPI, OKR etc) are in place to understand the performance of the application in production and relevant trends.
  • Ensure we can proactively predict future performance capacity and trends, therefore ensuring proactive work is lined up to keep performance within acceptable parameters.
  • Ensure that production defects are not only resolved, but also true root cause is understood to bring insight and actions plans to engineer for improving quality and resilience.
  • Ensure Obsolescence across re FM estate is remediated with no impact to stability
Stakeholder Management
  • Listen to a diverse set of views, contending requirements and manage constraints to identify the best route forward for the team.
  • Key to the success of the individual is to be able to build relationships and partner with the most senior business stakeholders and to deliver against commitments.
  • Build trust and where needed consensus with our stakeholders.
  • Organise, facilitate and drive collaboration across Operations, Product Owners, COO and the various technology teams to ensure clients’ requests are delivered.
  • Balancing a consensus building approach, however, have the ability to make ‘tough’ calls with the bank’s best interests in mind.
  • Manage, nurture and grow high performing partnerships with stakeholders and key vendors.
Vendor Management
  • Ensure our vendors are performing to desired standard and are continually improving their levels of service.
  • Partner with our vendors to ensure a proactive application roadmap which is relevant, and value add to SC.
  • Manage vendor management processes to ensure vendor relationship is compliant with internal standards and governance - regular reviews, TPSA, vendor resiliency plans, etc.
  • Oversee financial engagement and associated processes with the vendor to ensure SC is getting maximum value for money.
  • Continually review vendor competition landscape and identify opportunities of relevance for SC.
  • Be the SPOC for any vendor governance / audit requirements in your area of responsibility.
Architecture Strategy
  • Work with the Platform Architect in Documents and Channels to develop and continually refine / update a forward-looking architecture evolution plan for the platform, aligning to the bank’s relevant strategy, framework and principles.
  • Develop and drive the evolution of our platform and architecture to adopt technologies and frameworks (Cloud, DevOps, Microservices / Cloud Native, etc) to support our business and efficiency objectives.
  • Collaborate with the technical and business solutioning engineers to refine architecture plans into estimated designs and project proposals.
  • Oversee the execution of architectural changes (by relevant squads / backlogs), ensuring that diagrams and inventories stay up to date.
Cost Management
  • Ensure current running costs and relevant decomposition is known and tracked, understanding trends and fluctuations.
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce costs and TCO.
Leadership
  • Build and communicate a clear vision and strategy for the team and empower them to successfully deliver against our defined objectives.
  • Adopt an innovative and entrepreneurial approach. Able to leverage a range of solutions to accelerate deliveries.
  • Build strong and effective working relationships at all levels within the organisation and with stakeholders.
  • Lead by example and demonstrate high levels of professionalism and integrity in the execution of their duties.
  • Evidence of leading efforts to identify and deliver operating efficiency improvements ensuring optimal use of resources.
  • Recognise talent and proactively encourage them to grow to their full potential.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • University degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Relevant technical certifications.
  • 10 years experience working in Financial Markets technology.
  • Should have experience on Obsolescence identification/remediation and Financial markets products confirmation
