What the role is:The Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) which aims to pioneer innovation solutions and develop world class science and technology capabilities to transform and support the Home Team Departments (HTD) operations in maintaining order and enhancing security for Singapore. As our Lead Engineer / Engineer working in Vehicle and Weapon Systems, you will be spear-heading the capability development of weapon system projects for HTD. In addition, you will be leading and providing engineering and technical solutions to ensure that the weapon systems developed by HTX are optimally designed, integrated and interoperable with new and existing platforms and Information Communication Technology (ICT) systems. You are expected to explore new technical solutions, formulate support concepts and governance framework to develop innovative and cost effective solutions to ensure continued mission success for HTD operations. You are a technical expert who is also passionate to lead and bring weapon systems capability development to new heights to augment HTD missions. Reporting to the Head (Ammunition & Weapon Systems), the job holder will exploit new frontier capabilities and technologies to incorporate with weapon systems to achieve high system performance while meeting safety requirements.What you will be working on:Lead the development of ammunition and weapon systems including conducting feasibility studies and prototyping with incorporation of new frontier technological capabilities. Develop system architectures and perform system evaluation to seamlessly integrate weapon systems with platforms and command and control systems, and comply to security requirements. Formulate technical specifications, lead design reviews and project meetings. Perform weapon and ammunition compatibility assessment and testing. Plan and conduct Installation, Checkout, Integration & Testing and Electromagnetic Interference & Compatibility activities for ammunition and weapon systems. Devise or review test plans & procedures and conduct trials & acceptance tests for ammunition and weapon systems. Conduct system safety assessment of ammunition and weapons systems. Continuous upgrading and acquiring new frontier technologies on weapon system development.What we are looking for:Good honors degree in Mechanical, Electrical & Electronic, Mechatronics, Chemical, Systems Engineering or Communications Engineering preferably with background or experience working on weapon systems or technologies. Preferably with 3-5 years relevant working experience with ammunition, weapon systems, explosives & pyrotechnics, fire control, and weapon effects. Fresh graduates are also welcome to apply for this post. Knowledge of electro-optical systems, wireless communications, Internet of Things, system safety and artificial intelligence technologies or weapon systems integration onto a platform such as vehicle and boat will be advantageous. Possess strong project management skills. Take initiative at work to resolve ground issues. Effective communication skills i.e. verbal and written. ***All new appointees will be appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance.
