Role Responsibilities
The Organisation Design Lead takes on the primary accountability of managing and advising the organisation design priorities and challenges of key units in the Bank (eg. Corporate and Institutional Banking, Tech and Innovation, Compliance, Commercial Banking, etc.). The OD Lead will be working with the management team, HR and Business Leaders, and other related disciplines and functions to deliver the OD agenda for these units. The OD work is grounded on the Bank’s strategic priorities in delivering customer values, driving productivity, optimising cost efficiencies, facilitating #simplefasterbetter, and living the valued behaviours. We are looking for individuals who are ambitious, organised, adept at structured problem solving, and strive in working with and advising the management team and senior executives. Strategy Developing and upholding the Bank’s knowledge (eg. framework, approach, tools) on OD capabilities, including

  • Organisation Design Review (ODR) assesses organisational structures and models, size, and shape of an organisational unit (spans of control and layers analysis).
  • Target Operating Model (TOM) integrates the people, process and technology management elements of how an organisational unit delivers against its strategy.
  • Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP) integrates the capacity and capability (skills) components of an organisational unit’s future, changing face of the work, workforce and workplace.
  • Strategic Change Management (SCM) drives the execution capability of changes in the organisational unit to ensure that the full benefits are realised.
  • Mergers, Acquisitions, and Divestitures (MAD) drives end-to-end value from pre-deal assessment of organisational effectiveness and value-drivers, accelerated deal execution, to post-merger integration (e.g. structural, cultural).
  • Execution Organisation Design Lab provides a strategic platform to leaders of organisational units to determine the organisational priorities in executing their strategic imperatives.
  • Conducting on-going research and development of the Bank’s knowledge on OD capabilities, including Agile Organisation Design, Organisational Effectiveness and Development, and Social Network Analysis.
  • Understanding the latest OD trends, thought leadership, etc., to support the development of OD capabilities and advisory.
Business
  • Providing strategic OD advisory to the business leaders and management team of a major portfolio / set of organisational units (eg. Corporate and Institutional Banking, Private Banking, Commercial Banking, and Retail Banking).
  • Understanding the business strategy of the organisational units and the implications to advisory work.
  • Understanding the regulatory context and constraints and the implications to advisory work.
  • Developing a stakeholder management strategy and engagement approach to facilitate the design and delivery of OD initiatives.
  • Determining the priority OD initiatives for the organisational units, ensuring coherence with the OD Design for Businesses and Functions.
Processes
  • Working with respective HR and Business leaders to deliver end-to-end organisation design work, projects and major transformational initiatives across all the OD capabilities.
  • Developing action-oriented initiatives and plan to deliver the OD capabilities for the organisational units.
  • Determining the benefits (financial / non-financial, direct / indirect) of delivering the OD capabilities for the organisational units.
People and Talent
  • Developing the OD skills of HR to facilitate the delivery of OD capabilities for the organisational units.
  • Outlining and developing the OD knowledge / skills to the broader Bank employees.
  • Understanding the business context, banking priorities and adopt a strategic mindset to advise business leaders across a broad spectrum of OD and strategic challenges (Client Leadership).
  • Providing guidance, coaching, mentoring and development to OD team members (People Leadership).
  • Providing internal and external knowledge and perspectives to strengthen the capability of the OD team (Thought Leadership).
Risk Management
  • Appropriately manages the risks that may arise from work delivered to the Bank and to the stakeholders supported.
Governance
  • Developing and upholding the Bank’s organisation design principles to guide the delivery of OD capabilities for the organisational units.
  • Developing the governance processes, policies or procedures to assess, review and challenge the OD capabilities of the organisational units.
  • Monitoring and tracking the progress and benefits of delivering the OD capabilities for the organisational units (eg. spans of control).
  • Scoping and reviewing vendor support as appropriate, including the monitoring and tracking of budget against the delivery of deliverables; highlighting any risks and issues and developing mitigation plans accordingly.
Regulatory and Business Conduct
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Lead the team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles: The Right Environment.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
Key Stakeholders
  • Partnering with HRBPs, TLC and rest of HR in delivering OD capabilities for the organisational units.
  • Collaborating with related disciplines and functions, such as Finance, COOs, Business Efficiency, Operational Excellence, Group Strategy, Property, GBS, ePMO, Corporate Affairs, etc., to deliver OD capabilities for the organisational units.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • 10+ years OD expertise, knowledge and experience in one or more of the OD capabilities.
  • 3 - 5 years work experience in the banking sector.
  • Industry / functional knowledge and experience in one or more areas.
  • Strong organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced analytics (predictive, modelling, forecasting).
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Strong influence skills.
  • Collaborative in approach.
  • Results, delivery driven and change management.
  • Disciplined, adaptive and responsive.
