The job of an academic is challenging and meaningful. Not only will he/she have both the knowledge and skillsets, he/she must also possess a passion for working with youths, nurturing them and moulding their characters. There will be opportunities to develop the curriculum, introduce new courses as well as be involve in consultancy and other applied research projects. Administrative work related to teaching and School/Institutional strategic initiatives will be an important part of the job too. The appointee will be expected to be resourceful, adaptable, team-player and pro-active with good communication skills.

The appointee should be competent to teach in any of the following subjects:

• Mechanics
• ROS programming
• Robotics and automation
• Programmable Logic Controller
• 2D/3D Computer-aided drafting
• C/C++ or Python Programming

Responsibilities

• Develop and conduct lessons, tutorials and laboratory sessions to internal stakeholders, students (young adults and adult learners) and industry personnel through effective learning activities
• Keep abreast of current and future development and trends in manufacturing sector, so as to maintain relevant and up-to-date teaching curriculum. This includes a review of existing curriculum to make recommendations on areas of improvements that would enhance students\xe2\x80\x99 performance, learning and employability
• Provide mentorship and pastoral care for students
• Engage and collaborate with industry pro-actively to enhance students\xe2\x80\x99 learning through activities such as industry learning journeys, student-industry projects, internship program as well as to build capability building in strategic areas
• Provide administrative support in the running of the diploma course and general school operations

Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualification in the field of Mechanical Engineering / Mechatronic or equivalent.
• Relevant skillsets/knowledge in the area of mechatronics, manufacturing, automation, i4.0 technologies and robotics.
• Confidence and competent in collaboration with industry
• People-oriented individual with strong interpersonal, written and communication skills
• Self-driven, independent and possess readiness to work as a team
• Passionate about education and possess strong interest in teaching and mentoring both young adults and adult learners

Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract.
