Ideally you bring a solid understanding of the global regulatory framework (including international trade laws such as sanctions) applicable to the trading of commodities. Your accountabilities will include:

  • Act as key legal contact and trusted adviser to the Coal Marketing team.
  • Advise on drafting, negotiation, execution and performance of physical and derivative Coal contracts for export and domestic sales.
  • Manage defaults and disputes under Coal sales contracts.
  • Participate in risk assessments, identifying risks and advising on risk management.
  • Deliver training to Marketing team members, and contribute to the development of training materials and precedent documents.
  • Participate in and deliver on Legal and Business projects as required.
  • Travel internationally as required.
About You We value diversity in all its forms. Your career to date will demonstrate your strong critical reasoning skills, and your ability to quickly grasp technical concepts to provide strategic advice. You are self-motivated, work well under pressure and bring attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to meet multiple, competing deadlines. You establish credibility through your excellent communication skills and the delivery of timely, commercial legal advice. You are confident to speak up, take responsibility and lead outcomes. You are a team player who works effectively with others at all levels and across disciplines while also being able to work autonomously to manage your own workflow.

Supporting a Diverse Workforce The size and magnitude of our business not only provides significant opportunity for professional development, but also attractive salary packages with performance-based bonuses and a unique BHP employee share program.
