We are looking for a highly-driven and motivated individual for our Legal team in Singapore. If you are looking for a place where you can gain hands-on experience and have exposure to a wide range of legal topics, then this may be the place for you!

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the creation of a comprehensive regulatory compliance program and governance structure for entities across APAC.
  • Supporting the business in its license application with the MAS. Acting as the primary point of contact for inquiries from the regulator(s) and reviews relating to regulatory compliance matters.
  • Serving as a business adviser and subject matter expert for new business and payment products and particularly in relation to the identification and assessment of AML / TF risk and development of mitigating compliance processes, controls and measures (e.g. KYC, Transaction monitoring etc.)
  • Developing and rolling out relevant regulatory policies and procedures (AML / TF, Transaction monitoring, KYC / CDD etc.) and identifying where adjustments (including adjustments to products and/or services) may be needed.
  • Initiating, and promptly replying to ad-hoc compliance issues as appropriate, and supporting business stakeholders and management in understanding compliance-related risks and management of such risks.
  • Demonstrating an ability to interpret e-money, payment services and other regulatory requirements and assess operational compliance with those requirements with a key focus on financial crime
  • Supporting the coordination of audits (internal/external) on compliance
  • Instructing external law firms and external counsel as required.
  • Partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders and liaising with our Berlin HQ legal and compliance teams to ensure common standards and practices.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Laws degree with approximately five (5) years of post-qualification experience.
  • Qualified to practise law in a common law jurisdiction.
  • Experience in the field of compliance with a focus on regulatory compliance or other relevant compliance oversight experience
  • Industry experience with Fintech and e-money in a Singapore payment services setting with extensive knowledge of applicable central bank regulations and other relevant industry regulations is preferred
  • Background working with a reputable law firms or as an in-house counsel, ideally with e-commerce, internet or tech companies and a passion for technology, big data, data governance and data privacy.
  • Experience in fast-paced, entrepreneurial, startup/technology environments will be an advantage.
  • Commercially astute, highly-drive and pragmatic, with strong influencing and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively, and efficiently communicate complex legal concepts to internal stakeholders.
  • Good interpersonal skills; organised and meticulous. Self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision and under pressure
