Job Description


The company is hiring an inaugural Legal Counsel, to be the first person on the ground in building up the overall legal structure of the organisation. As a member of this dynamic team, you will have the chance to work alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry, and make an impact on a global scale. Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for managing the legal portfolio, including contract drafting, review and negotiations.

Client Details

Our client, who has been invested by one the renowned private equity firm (a Japanese integrated trading and investment business conglomerate), is positioned within the F&B industry and Quick Service Restaurant (QSR), with an outstanding presence in the US and Canada. As a multinational QSR and restaurant chain with more than 5,000 coffee outlets in the US and Canada in 15 countries, our client is planning to expand into the Southeast Asian market, with strong ambition of setting up the first Southeast Asian QSR outlet in Singapore by Q4 2023.

Description

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, lease agreements, and licensing agreements
  • Provide legal advice and support on a range of issues, including intellectual property, data protection, employment law, and regulatory compliance
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to manage legal risks
  • Manage disputes and litigation, including working with external counsel as necessary
  • Keep up to date with changes in relevant laws and regulations and provide advice on their impact on the company
  • Familiarity with the Singapore Food Agency\'s (SFA) latest licensing, guidelines and regulations for F&B businesses is a strong advantage
Profile
  • Degree in Law from a recognised university and admitted to the Singapore Bar with at least 10 years PQE
  • Confident to be the sole and inaugural legal counsel, with a proven track record of success in a leadership role in MNCs as in-house legal counsel
  • Prior track record in private practice dealing with corporate and commercial matters, in-house experience in F&B and/or retail experience is an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of contract, corporate and employment laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Experience in managing external counsels on complex legal issues including dispute resolution, intellectual property, commercial and business laws
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
