About the Opportunity
We are a fast-growing company in Singapore seeking a Legal Counsel to be the first in-house legal hire. This is a strategic and hands-on role in which the successful candidate will take full ownership of the legal function, ensuring strong governance, compliance, and legal support across the business. The role requires prior experience with public listed companies and a strong understanding of SGX compliance. The Legal Counsel will report directly to the overseas group, providing guidance and aligning local legal matters with regional and corporate requirements.
Key Responsibilities

• The Legal Counsel will draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts.
• The incumbent will advise on statutory, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance matters for a public listed company.
• The Legal Counsel will identify, assess, and manage legal and regulatory risks across the business.
• The role includes providing guidance on data privacy, intellectual property, and other compliance matters.
• The Legal Counsel will monitor regulatory developments and advise on potential business impacts, including compliance with SGX listing rules.
• The incumbent will work closely with internal stakeholders and external counsel to provide practical legal solutions.

Talent Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Law
• The candidate must have 15 to 20 years of experience in corporate, commercial, and compliance law.
• Experience with public listed companies and familiarity with SGX listing rules is required.
• The candidate must possess strong drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• The candidate must be independent, proactive, and able to lead the legal function as a one-person team.
• The candidate must have excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with Singapore regulatory frameworks is required, and regional or international exposure will be considered an advantage.
