SingaporeAcademic - Library /Part Time (Perm) /On-siteCurrently, more than 1800 students are learning at GESS supported by more than 400 full time and part time academic and administrative staff members. In August 2018 GESS moved to Dairy Farm Road to a modern new school campus located at the edge of Singapore\'s largest nature reserve.28 hours/weekCommencing 1 August 2024Main Responsibilities\xc2\xb7 Promotes the library and its materials.\xc2\xb7 Assists library users in finding resources to meet their needs and access the online catalogue system OPAC.\xc2\xb7 Supervises library users and helps maintain the physical appearance of the library.\xc2\xb7 Fully responsible for running the operational part of the Library, circulation and information desks.\xc2\xb7 Promotes understanding and love of books, storytelling, information literacy, digital literacy and library resources and services in students, staff and parents.\xc2\xb7 Shelve library books and materials daily.Resources and Support\xc2\xb7 Establish and maintain library procedures and processes.\xc2\xb7 Work with the Head of Libraries, Teacher Librarians and Library Officers to promote library resources and services.\xc2\xb7 Manage the library class visit timetable.\xc2\xb7 Assists to maintain the physical appearance of the library.\xc2\xb7 Other duties reasonable to establish the smooth operation of the library.Community Engagement and Collaboration\xc2\xb7 Plan and develop library documentation and communication.\xc2\xb7 Organize and support library programme events and author visits.\xc2\xb7 Maintains a positive relationship with all school staff, teachers, students, parents and the wider GESS community.\xc2\xb7 Keep school management informed of library activities and resources.Requirements:\xc2\xb7 Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and enjoys working with students of all cultural backgrounds and from all grade levels.\xc2\xb7 Proficiency in both English and German languages as you will be engaging with students, parents and colleagues who speak these languages.\xc2\xb7 Good understanding of library cataloguing standards.\xc2\xb7 You should possess relevant working experience in either a library or a school setting.\xc2\xb7 Good working knowledge of digital content and online platforms. Willingness to learn new systems essential.\xc2\xb7 Have strong computer skills and a passion for promoting learning & literacy.\xc2\xb7 Have good organisational skills and the ability to work well in a team.\xc2\xb7 Energetic, flexible and able to take on new challenges.Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, you will be a fitting ambassador for the school.
