Position summary:

We are currently seeking an LNG professional with strong commercial acumen, material transactional experience, and problem-solving skills to join our dynamic organization in LNG Origination. The Gas Supply and Trading (GSAT) Originator will be responsible for managing new LNG term transactions and business development efforts in the assigned markets for GSAT. The position will maintain a strong internal network including GSAT, Corporate Business Development (CBD), Chevron New Energies (CNE), Supply & Trading (S&T), Value Chain Optimization (VCO), Shipping, Finance and Legal amongst others to create natural work teams to pursue commercial opportunities in the most effective way possible, depending on the scope and specifics of those opportunities. This role will report into the GSAT General Manager LNG Ventures and Business Development.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Originates, negotiates, and executes term supply and demand origination opportunities in the assigned markets that can range from traditional term marketing to joint ventures, strategic alliances, and/or value chain infrastructure investments.
  • Expected to understand how to find, evaluate, structure, finance, and close new opportunities.
  • Identifies appropriate economic evaluation, proposal development, and leads negotiations leading to capture.
  • Develops and manages enduring relationships with key customers and partners to support GSAT, CBD and CNE activities.
  • This activity is often with limited in-country organizational support in new markets and requires a high degree of self-reliance/self-starting and independent action.
  • Leads in developing and executing LNG marketing strategies for term sales.
  • Works in close collaboration with LNG, Trading, Operations, VCO, PSAT, CSAT, VCSC, CBD, CNE and Shipping teams in London, Houston, Singapore and Perth.
  • Manages development of candidates in more junior roles as practicable.
  • Ensures activities are integrated into the overall Chevron LNG Strategy. Manages and provides gas commercial expertise across efforts in the assigned markets, as required.
  • Interact with the trading teams and management for input to test opportunities against CVX strategic intents.
  • Establish a network of contacts to enhance market intelligence.
Required qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent
  • 10+ years of LNG supply and trading experience, preferably in LNG origination and/or business development
  • Material transactional experience including experience in long-term origination and new business development, especially in LNG. This includes new market development, negotiation and execution of long-term agreements and value chain project structuring/development. Specific expertise in the target origination markets is preferred
  • LNG commercial acumen and understanding of the full LNG value chain from production to customer
  • Negotiations. Demonstrated proficiency in identifying opportunities and negotiating outcomes with an enterprise perspective
  • Entrepreneurial aptitude. Demonstrated history of deal capture and complex negotiations.
  • Thorough understanding of commodity markets.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of peers and stakeholders in pursuit of the best enterprise outcome and to communicate effectively externally and at all levels in the Chevron organization. Ability to represent Chevron externally at the highest levels with Government, customers & partners
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision in new market or partner environments. Strong self-starter
