Background

Our client is a European Bank. This is an opportunity to work with a high-performing team of 4, under the leadership of a capital markets veteran within the loan syndications space. The bank underwrites and covers the whole of APAC region from a trade finance perspective, but they run their business more like a loan syndications desk.


Their deals tend to be large, complex, structured deals, comprising more medium term financing where the bank is sole arranger. While they also handle vanilla short-term working capital trade finance distribution to other trade finance FIs, they place greater emphasis on originating large, structured medium/long-term loans and selling them to investors/ loan syndication buyers.


Given their unique intersection of trade finance & loan syndications, their clients are able to take for medium term syndicated loans, but on trade finance terms. This is balance sheet friendly as compared to pure loans.

Position Overview

The role involves supporting senior transactors in the distribution of supply chain financing transactions across the APAC region. The successful candidate will also handle the distribution of letters of credit and other documentary credits (FI risk) to banks and institutional investors, on both funded and unfunded bases.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

Support origination and distribution of trade financing in APAC, with focus on LCs/Documentary Credits. Collaborate with global trade syndication teams to leverage regional and international investor bases. Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders across transaction banking, coverage, and risk functions to ensure smooth deal execution. Develop and expand relationships with external investors, including multilateral agencies and regional/global syndication teams. Collect and analyze secondary market intelligence (capacity, pricing, product trends, competitor activity). Negotiate and finalize legal documentation (e.g., MRPA) with new investors, supported by legal teams. Ensure seamless execution and settlement of transactions, including KYC checks on potential investors. Maintain accurate deal records, reporting, and databases. Assist in data analysis, research, preparation of information memoranda, syndication launches, and investor roadshows. Lead or support special regional or global projects when required.

Skills & Competencies

Strong understanding of loan syndication and trade finance products (LCs, guarantees, supply chain finance). Proven experience in trade and structured financing, with ability to analyze complex transactions. Established regional network with banks and institutional investors. Commercial acumen with ability to identify and act on opportunities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree or higher. 5-7 years' experience in loan syndication, trade finance, or corporate banking.
