Duties

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound with or without contrast media to produce optimal diagnostic images in due regard to patient care, modesty, safety and clinical needs.
• Select and execute proper and appropriate techniques for individual patients according to his/her clinical needs within established professional and departmental protocols.
• Provide care for patients undergoing examinations according to the conditions and nature of his/her illnesses and clinical diagnosis.
• Be responsible for the proper functioning and maintenance of ultrasound equipment and accessories within the designated work area.
• Be responsible for the cleanliness and tidiness of examination/ procedure room. Be responsible to inform the Lead Radiographer of any faults in any equipment to call for servicing.
• Ensure correct patient and area of interest is being examined, imaged and labelled accordingly.
• Ensure the proper completion of all patient and imaging documentations. Prepare equipment and supplies required for any sonography procedures.
• Ensure ultrasounds performed are of diagnostic value with correct patient identification before patient leave the department.
• Adhere to infection control guidelines (e.g. proper disposal of Sharps and any biohazard substance after completion of each procedure and practice hand washing or hand rub).

Requirements

• Candidate must have a recognised and relevant Diploma/Degree/Postgraduate qualification in Sonography or Radiography, or equivalent.
• AHPC registered will be advantageous.
