A lorry driver, also known as a truck driver, is responsible for

transporting goods and materials using large commercial vehicles

Responsibilities

Driving

: Safely driving the lorry, following traffic laws and regulations, and respecting weight and size limits

Loading and unloading

: Ensuring goods are loaded and unloaded securely and accurately

Route planning

: Planning the most efficient routes to meet delivery schedules

Vehicle maintenance

: Inspecting the lorry for mechanical issues and safety, and performing preventative maintenance

Documentation

: Completing and handing over transport documents, receipts, and trip reports

Customer service

: Reviewing orders before and after delivery, and ensuring customer satisfaction

Emergency response

: Responding appropriately to emergencies or incidents on the road

Skills and traits

Excellent communication and organizational skills Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities Physical stamina and attention to detail Punctuality and ability to work well under pressure * Familiarity with local streets, neighborhoods, and routes
