What the role is:Deputy Manager, Financial PlanningWhat you will be working on:Join our Finance team on a transformative journey to re-engineer and develop an ambitious cross-agency budgeting, planning, and monitoring system. This unique role offers an opportunity to lead and innovate within a government finance setting through shaping the future of budgeting processes.

  • Lead System Implementation: Implementation of our new budgeting system, ensuring it meets complex business needs and integrates seamlessly across agencies. Applicants with finance and budgeting experience but limited system implementation experience are also welcome to apply.
  • Business Requirements & Solutions Delivery: Be involved in finalising and streamlining business requirements, collaborating with external consultants to deliver a solution that is fit for purpose. You will be required to understand the system functionalities, workflows, and dependencies to drive solutioning. You will also have to achieve understanding of government budgeting and monitoring processes.
  • Data Migration & Management: Drive the data migration process, engaging with business users to gather, organize, and clean data, ensuring a smooth transition to the new system.
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Actively participate in UAT, reviewing test scripts, performing testing, and ensuring that any defects are promptly addressed.
  • Change Management: Propose business process changes and engage end-users for buy-in and adoption.
  • Project Management & Reporting: Write proposals for management buy-in and provide regular, insightful updates to management on project status.
  • Training & Documentation: Be involved in developing comprehensive system documentation, training materials, SOPs, and support training sessions to ensure all users are proficient in the new system.
What we are looking for:
  • Tertiary Qualification in Accountancy or Finance
  • 4 to 8 years job experience in a finance/accounting/reporting environment with experience in budget
planning in the public sector.
  • IT-savvy, resourceful, analytical and innovative
  • Able to work independently and perform under pressure and tight timelines
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, teamwork oriented.
  • Hands on experience in Budgeting system implementation or working experience implementing IT projects relating to financial systems (e.g. SAP, IBM) will be an advantage
