As a Barclays Macro IT Application Support you will form part of a global team dedicated to supporting the technology environment, ensuring the smooth running of production systems and providing an exceptional level of service to business and downstream users. You will be covering the front to back business functions including front-office trading, operations and finance specifically for the FX trading desks. Providing first and second line technical and application assistance services for cross-asset E-Commerce and Algo trading applications.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. What will you be doing?

  • Monitoring application incident queues/alerts ensuring maximum system uptime
  • Contributing to service level improvements by documenting known issues, analysing failures and suggesting ways to improve service quality
  • Working closely with other IT technology teams to manage and resolve production issues
  • Driving problem resolution forward to completion, escalating where necessary including Root cause analysis and remediation
  • Providing functional systems support for business activities ranging from trade capture to trade life cycling, PNL and risk position generation
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge base of the application\'s technical structure and business logic in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Creating automation toolsets to monitor processes, reporting, streamlining analysis of investigations and improve operational efficiency
What we\'re looking for:
  • Qualification or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related technical discipline
  • Experience working in critical application support environment facing off traders and senior business users
  • Hands on technical skills in some or all of UNIX, Windows, Java, C++, Scripting, Database and SQL, KDB, Middleware messaging, FIX protocol, Networking fundamentals
  • Excellent communicator, problem solver and multi-tasker with solid understanding of Incident, Problem, Change and Capacity management
Skills that will help you in the role:
  • ITIL certification
  • Direct working experience in supporting FX and eFX front-office applications
  • A knowledge off Financial markets/ front office trading environment
